My suggestion to Brenda is to move away from California. There are many places left that are still American where she and her son will be greatly appreciated. She can look at the Red/Blue map and pick a nice spot.

Suggestion: Put up red, white and blue ribbons instead.
Let them try to take those down!

She should have told them that her son is a homosexual with AIDS. They would help her put them up.

And, how many times, in the last week, have I heard leftist say, every one in this country support the troops?
Well, I think we can start naming a few towns that do not :--(

What possible message a yellow ribbon says would anyone object to? To me it is an expression that we look forward to and will welcome the return of our military. Even if you object to war, what is the problem? It is only PC if it supports the liberal view, I guess. If they put up 300 large AIDS ribbons, would they come down?

Were they HER trees to put them on? Even were they adjoining her property. Or did she run around plastering the town wityh her own view of what everybody should be saying, and thus not giving them the benefit of being able to say it BETTER by themselves, for themselves, in each's own way?
If so -- she was wrong and the town was right!

The City has a huge drive to encouraging the employees to support the troops by sending cards, "care packages", etc., so I'm sure the removal of the ribbons wasn't done in the spirit of anti-war.

Put it back then notify the press of the anti-troop mentality of that city.

Everyone -- please research before getting all hot and bothered. Since Tuesday, there has been an ENORMOUS yellow ribbon tied around the big oak tree at City Hall. Also, employees have been offered and given yellow ribbons to use in their offices. Please...

Time for a little civil disobedience:
Everybody that drives through the narrow-minded burgh should have a yellow ribbon on their car and tie one an any available tree.

If the city doesn't want yellow ribbons, there are other ways to show support.
Maybe someone should call John and Ken and suggest a round-the-clock "Honk in Thousand Oaks if You Support the Troops" campaign. Perhaps mention the street the mayor lives on. No need to give his exact address, don't want some nut to cross the line, but late at night honking on his street might just get the neighbors to share their opinion with the mayor's opinion.

Here are the total list of e-mail contacts I've found for Thousand Oaks:
city@toaks.org CityManager@toaks.org cnclmanfox@aol.com bwilson@toaks.org dgillette@toaks.org emasry@toaks.org cbill@toaks.org I would advise e-mailing all of them with one message. My e-mail focused on:
1. The fact their decision has humilliated Thousand Oaks nationwide.
2. The fact that they clearly don't understand patriotism if they object to the community uniting while our troops are in harm's way.
3. I don't buy any of their legalistic arguments since this has been done in the past and is being elsewhere throughout the nation.
