FOX NEWS "OUTS" Protesters!

Just a few moments ago, the morning crew at Fox News was interviewing a wounded soldier from the Army Hospital in Germany and they showed him some footage of the couple dozen "die-in" protesters on Fifth Avenue in New York to get his reaction.

When they set it up, the reporterette said, "You've got to keep in mind, Sargeant, that this group is organized by 'Anarchists and Communists,' 'The International Socialist Organization,' and 'Psycho Therapists against War.'" All three reporters took a shot at the inane, professionally-organized protest and the sargeant just shrugged and said somehing to the effect of "well we're fighting for their right to voice their opinion; just don't take it out on the soldiers is all I have to say." Very classy.

Then good ol' Fred Thompson came on a few minutes later and they "outed the protesters" again! They showed his commercial and talked a bit about how there seemed to be as many photographers as protesters and that it was the same old crowd we've been identifying here at FR since February 15. Fred did a great job articulating why and how the American people should frame these "world-wide" protests. I really appreciated what they said because I've been trying to get the word out at my university. I hope the mainstream media starts to "frame the protests" the way Fox News did . . . (but I'm not holding my breath!)

There is one guy on Fox in the morning who is a little over the top in his "rah-rah." Just give the facts---the facts are totally on our side.

But over all, it's astounding to see the coverage on CNN. I glance at it to try to see their "embedded" reports, yet every single report is critical, accusatory, and every single positive fact is accompanied by an "although" by the talking head. Unbelievable.

Whenever I stay in a hotel, I always fill out the guest comments card and request that they provide the FNC. I guess it hasn't helped much though. Since FNC began operations in October 1996, I have only found one hotel (Sheraton or Holiday Inn? in Manchester, NH near the airport) that carried it.

It is very frustrating.

There is no "right to protest" per se. There is, however, a Constitutionally guaranteed right to assemble, peaceably. Just as the "right to free speech" is not a right to "yell fire in a crowded theater," the "right to peaceably assemble" does not mean you can lie in the street and act as if you are dead, endangering yourself and others, and infringing on others' rights.

In Savannah, GA there was a Rally for America last Thrusday. Around 3000 people showed up. The Anti-War "crowd" staged a protest on the same evening...only FOUR people showed up. People may say that some of us in the South are stuck in the past (Confederate flag debates and all); but I doubt anyone would ever question our patriotism down here. I admit it's kinda oxymoronic, but that's just the way it is in the South.

Well ... I blew my cookies at FOX a couple of weeks ago over these "peace" protestors, and how nobody in the media was saying WHO these protestors are. I told them that as the average working stiff - I could find out this information - surely FOX could find this out and expose who these people are and what their real agenda is. I also told them that these are the same rent-a-mobs who were in Seattle and did all the property damage there.

I suspect I was not the only one complaining - and our combined complaints reached the right people!!

And ... parts of this story were on FOX already and I'm glad to see they are amping up the information about it.

Oh how I love FR. A post deploring the actions of protestors gets morphed into support of the anti-war crowd.

In defense of free speech, yes, the protestors have every right to denounce the president's actions, unless it amounts to sedition. Second, of course property destruction, unlawful assembly, etc are not protected actions.

However, one of the most popular tactics of all time by opposing parties is to masquerade as 'agent provocateurs'. Now, I'm not saying that any of these mindless peaceniks are being manipulated by the good guys (conservatives) and goaded into unlawful activities, but if you pause to think about it for a second, what better way would there be to discredit a movement?

Thoughtful libs (an oxymoron) are already fretting; they know their goose is cooked and that Bush & Co. will be unstopable in 2004.

Lets also not forget, the right to protest is exactly what those solders are fighting for. Just because we might not agree with there opinion, doesn't mean they should not be able to express it.

I think you are absolutely correct. The ability to protest and hold an unpopular opinion is at the heart of the first amendment, and one of the reasons I spent 21 years in the USAF.

OTOH, the right to chide people for speaking out against that unpopular opinion is equally important, and just as protected. One's actions or opinions are NOT protected from verbal or personal choice in the form of a backlash. There is, and will always be a cost. Can't avoid it without stifling the very rights we claim to be upholding in the first place.

If you express an unpopular argument your goal is to persuade and the result may indeed be just that. However, the result may easily be ridicule and derision.

Tough. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

After checking out the tel number I spoke to several females who finally directed me to the boss...she needed volunteers to go into the poor people's neighborhoods and get them active in fighting for more public education, more and better housing, more anger against the War and this administration. We had a very pleasant conversation about all this. I tried to sound very naive and altruistic and she lapped it up and tried to get me emotional and committed. "Valerie" ( strong NY accent) said that they were hooked up with ACORN and other groups and that I was one of "millions" of people who want change.

I told her I would get back to her afer I consulted with my Uncle Marx.

Free speech? Just like the Pro life protestors were guaranteed free speech? Talk about a double standard here.

These protestors are organized, conspiring, violent, impeding the flow of commerce, resorting to violence, blackmailing businesses, and they are international. Now excuse me...are they not the perfect candidates for prosecution under the RICO act? Why do we continue to dismiss these spoiled and insipid sons and daughters of the liberal left upper classes while destroying the lives of decent Americans who want to stop the killing of babies? Why do we send the sons and daughters of Americans in harm's way to protect these 1st amendment freedoms when here at home we allow the left wing deluded ones to trash those same freedoms with nary a slap on the wrist?

FNC has cajones, and the ratings are embarrassing CNN.

SF DA Terrance Hallinan dismissed charges against 12 or so protesters who were caught freely expressing themselves with violence and vandalism. Molotov cocktails were found near 3rd St, and some other police departments are finding ball bearings and slingshots. We heard the audio of KC Bush supporters whose kids were subjected to obscenities and insults, as well as the physically aggressive creeps shoving women around.

Thanks to the troll for redefining the Constitution. I almost forgot that blocking emergency vehicles, supporting cop killers, vandalism of businesses, punching a horse and assaulting commuters in SUVs were First Amendment rights (sarcasm) >:{
