FOX NEWS "OUTS" Protesters!
FOX NEWS | 27 March 03 | Self

Posted on 03/27/2003 5:52:33 AM PST by TPartyType

Just a few moments ago, the morning crew at Fox News was interviewing a wounded soldier from the Army Hospital in Germany and they showed him some footage of the couple dozen "die-in" protesters on Fifth Avenue in New York to get his reaction.

When they set it up, the reporterette said, "You've got to keep in mind, Sargeant, that this group is organized by 'Anarchists and Communists,' 'The International Socialist Organization,' and 'Psycho Therapists against War.'" All three reporters took a shot at the inane, professionally-organized protest and the sargeant just shrugged and said somehing to the effect of "well we're fighting for their right to voice their opinion; just don't take it out on the soldiers is all I have to say." Very classy.

Then good ol' Fred Thompson came on a few minutes later and they "outed the protesters" again! They showed his commercial and talked a bit about how there seemed to be as many photographers as protesters and that it was the same old crowd we've been identifying here at FR since February 15. Fred did a great job articulating why and how the American people should frame these "world-wide" protests. I really appreciated what they said because I've been trying to get the word out at my university. I hope the mainstream media starts to "frame the protests" the way Fox News did . . . (but I'm not holding my breath!)

You'd sure be wise not to hold your breath. They say it's not possible to kill yourself by holding your breath, but why take chances? Accurate framing by the other media ain't gonna happen, my friend.

The media are the nucleus of this country's problem. Without changing the mainstream media, meaningful change in this country is impossible.

They are not protesting anymore

They are terrorists. Even Portland, Oregon is now upset that they shut down THEIR city.

I see you are new around here.

Protesters have absolutely NO RIGHT to block traffic!! It's the second hand smoking argument isn't it...Your rights STOP where my nose begins. Their rights stop when ambulances and cars are trying to go places. THUGS.

And there is nothing in the Constitution (capital "C") that says WE cannot protest the protesters protesting our government, economy or our leaders, by pointing out their financial backers and true intent.

Ran across this the other day.
Remember....
It is the soldier not the reporter,
who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier not he poet,
who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the soldier not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Let me get this straight:
Vandalism, violence, trespassing, public drunkeness, assault, terrorism against the economy by way of disrupting business(Act of war), blocking traffic and creating dangerous conditions by way of disrupting emergency response, and insisting everyone else be PC and unoffensive to them while on the same hand offending everyone including those who protect their rights, and just plain breaking the law is protected free speech?

peacefully protesting is one thing, purposefully harassing people, blocking traffic, etc. is another. The Constitution does not protect the latter. Also, they are free to protest, and news organizations are free to point out who it is that organized the protest and what their ultimate goal and purposes are.

Let's not forget that the glorious Fox News just sent Connie Chung packing at CNN, since her show was opposite the "No Spin Zone".

Fox gets it right again.

Lets also not forget, the right to protest is exactly what those solders are fighting for. Just because we might not agree with there opinion, doesn't mean they should not be able to express it.

Yeah, they have the right to express their opinions, to protest. But they do not have the right to BREAK THE LAW by obstructing traffic. If they had assembled and protested WITHOUT seeking to force their protest into everyone's faces, I could live with it.

Arrest all of them, and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
