Rally For America!
Sunday March 30th, 1:30 PM
Celebrate our freedom and the troops that defend it!
Cranberry Twp Municipal Center 2525 Rochester Road Cranberry Twp PA
(North of Pittsburgh, PA.) - Just minutes from the junctions of I79 and the PA Turnpike and Rte 228 and Rte 19 in Cranberry Township. Follow 19 north approximately 1 mile to Rochester Road on left. Turn left onto Rochester Road and go to the Municipal Center, which is just down the road on the left. You'll see the crowd. There is plenty of free parking at the site.
Speakers include State Sen. Jane Orie, State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, radio talk show host Jerry Bowyer, and others including Nikki Mendicino - an inspiring 14 year old 'decorated Honorary Veteran.' PLUS everyone who wants to voice their support for the troops will be given an opportunity to speak.
The weather forecast is for cloudy morning skies giving way to sunshine in the afternoon, with a high around 40 and some wind. But NO RAIN OR SNOW! Dress appropriately. Whatever the weather conditions, they do not begin to compare with the weather or the conditions in Iraq. Therefore, no weather related excuses will be accepted. ;-)
Bring your signs and flags. Bring your neighbors, friends, coworkers and all of the kids. Bring your mother in law. Just be there and bring your spirit and energy.
More importantly, bring something from the following list for the troops.
SERVICE MEMBERS' WISH LIST Travel Size Personal & Miscellaneous Items

This is Nikki (
http://www.nikkiusa.com ) and I thought that you might want to read the new article about tomorrow's rally. I'll post this in the "Latest Articles" forum too!! I know the weather isn't going to be that great (but we do live in da 'burgh, as my mom would say!!) and I'm sure we can handle being in the cold to show our support!!! The weather where our brave troops are is much worse than here and if I have to be cold to show that I care then that's what I'll do!! Hope to see more people at this support rally than the rally that blocked the traffic in Pittsburgh (and they didn't have a permit to protest!!!).

Rally to support troops planned for Cranberry
By Dominick DiRienzo
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Friday, March 28, 2003
When Nikki Mendicino speaks about veterans' affairs, she speaks with an authority well beyond her 14 years.
Mendicino, a nationally recognized veterans' advocate from Springdale Borough, will be among the speakers at Sunday's "Rally For America" in Cranberry. The 1 p.m. rally will be at the township municipal building, 2525 Rochester Road.
"For the past few weeks, it's been all anti-war protests. The (troops in Iraq) are fighting for us," said Mendicino, a ninth-grader at Springdale High School. "The time to protest is done and if anything, we need to support the troops now."
State Sen. Jane Orie, a McCandless Republican, and state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, a Cranberry Republican, are also expected to speak.
Rally organizer Colleen Hroncich called Mendicino "amazing."
"You hear so much bad stuff about kids, it's great to hear a kid doing so much good," Hroncich said.
Rally attendees also will have an opportunity to speak.
Hroncich said she expects hundreds of people at the rally. An impromptu rally last week at the Cranberry municipal building drew about 60 people.
"I called a few people and e-mailed a few people, and (the rally) has kind of taken on a life of its own," Hroncich said. "Most people support the troops. It has just been a very vocal minority protesting."
Hroncich said the rally will go on regardless of weather.
Rally attendees also can bring comfort items, such as toiletries, small puzzles or playing cards, or individually wrapped snack items, which will be delivered to soldiers by the American Red Cross.
Mendicino said she is happy to be part of the event.
"I want to show (veterans or soldiers) that kids today do care about their country," she said.
