Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I guess someone made a comment and then everyone else took off on it with jokes since Dasshole is so despised.
I don't wish him dead..I just wish him gone from politics.

Per Sky Guy David Chater Saddamn on Iraqi TV saying, "Now's the time to attack!"
Looking for confirmation...

JDAM = Joint Direct Attack Munition
It comes in 500 lb, 750 lb, 1000 lb and 2000 lb versions. Essentially anything with JDAM means it uses a GPS guidance system during free-fall. Accurate to within 10 feet or so.
MOAB = Massive Ordnance Air Burst
Was developed to replace the 15,000 lb. "daisy-cutter" used in Vietnam and a few times in Desert Storm and Afghanistan. The MOAB is 21,000 lbs. It can be delivered by C-130 and C-17.
There is a report in Aviation Week that it will fit in the B-2 bomb bay and can be carried by the B-2

Domino effect may be beginning:
Tehran, March 22, IRNA -- The holy city of Najaf in southern Iraq, which has a major Shiite population, is bracing for an uprising against the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday it had made a proposal to end the U.S.-led war on IraqThis is jproof-positive that we are winning!

Yes he did. I sat here, stunned, for a few minutes. He had this sad tone like these are our soldiers, fellow Americans, aren't they horrible? I could not believe it. He is lucky that the guys he is embedded with didn't here his report. I am only 29, but it felt like the kind of thing that would have been said during Vietnam.
As I was sitting here trying to convince myself he had not said that, War Slut came on about Basrah(SP?) and said "there appears to be a minor disturbance in Basrah, which has not been secured by the Allies. We will follow the story." A minor disturbance?!?!? CNN has decided to forgo all pretenses, and just flat out suck!!

"I don't wish him dead..I just wish him gone from politics."
Precisely. You know, we all have differences with people. Wishing ill-health to other (non-treasonous) Americans is beyond the pale, IMO. Most Freepers I've encountered understand the distinction.

Watching a camel caravan trudging through the desert in Basra. Real wierd!!
I have a circa 1850 book. We brought camels to the US at one time, thinking them possibly valuable for military purposes. Needless to say, it didn't work out.

Accurate to within 10 feet or so. Unless its jammed, then we home in on the jammer, which makes it accurate to 1 foot.

Just heard a radio report that someone is on Iraqi tv reading a letter from SH telling his forcesnow is the time to attack our troops. B-dad booming again.

Rummy briefing in 8 minutes.

Hilarious in CENTCOM briefing this morning when news of their destruction was revealed. There was a GREAT article at Global Security (or linked from there, can't remember) about GPS jamming. Bottom line, it is NOT an easy exercise to jam the JDAMs.
