[history]
Dozens of vocal pro-military demonstrators from one rally Saturday marched across downtown Reno to heckle a group of anti-war protesters gathered elsewhere.
Police made no arrests and received no reports of physical contact.

Never happen.
I'm very tired of being called pro-war. I am pro-protection. My husband got on a flight to St.Louis yesterday and I am sooo glad he was search, shoes taken off, laptop started up and wanded. I know that they are also doing it to everyone else.
People forget that people just going to work were killed on 9/11. They caught us with our pants down. That will never happen again.

Reno resident Bob Barbanti, 54, a marine veteran who controlled air strikes during the Vietnam War, held a sign, Illegitimate president, illegitimate war. Don't tell me there's no such thing as an ex-Marine.

My son came over for Sunday dinner yesterday and said he and a friend had just driven through an anti-war demonstration on Westheimer by the Galleria in Houston. He said they yelled at them and made the appropriate gestures they deserved. Said it looked like they were getting harrassed by everyone passing by and weren't having much fun!

Coop, to the contrary. We, who were in the Corps, never said there is no such thing as an "ex-Marine." Anyone who was given a dishonorable discharge is considered an "ex-Marine." I would certainly have to look into the records of Barbanti to see his background. Remember, just because someone claims to have been in the Marine Corps does not make it factual. And of course we all know there are those who were in the Corps who betrayed it by their actions during and after their service. Ex: Lee Harvey Oswald and more recently the former Marine who was a WMD inspector bought off by Saddam Hussein's relative to make a motion picture. Can't recall his name presently but he claims that there are no WMD in Iraq. And of course we know better.
The Marine Corps is made up of human beings and no organization in history has not had those who have not shamed it by their actions. But for over two hundred years I don't think there is any organization who has proven itself in and out of combat to be better than the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi

Scott Ritter - definitely another fine example of an ex-Marine.

Thanks. And don't let the jarheads kid you. We have the upmost respect for the other services and none more than for our brothers and sisters in the Navy. Those of us like myself who were grunts in Nam loved and respected the Navy Corpsmen. I would not be here today if not for a Corpsman. The Navy Corpsmen were and are fellow Marines. Semper Fi

You're better off than we are. You are described as "pro-military". Around here -- MD & DC, we are described as "pro-war"
