Nothing new. Iranian prisoners were executed by Iraqi troops during their war. Iraqi prisoners were executed by the Iranian in return. The Baathist Party is stupid. When the US forces win, who do they think will protect their memebers from revenge attacks by their own people. Somebody on another thread raised the possibility that this is further indication that Saddam is dead (or not functioning at the top of the chain of command). That's an interesting possibility. Another possibility is that he gave orders to his inner circle that, should he die or become incapacitated, all bets are off.

Bush should have stuck to the origional, and foolproof, plan to shock and awe them into surrender and this would have been over in 48 hours - just like the first time.
