(CBS) Ten U.S. soldiers were injured, six or seven of them seriously, in a grenade and small arms attack at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassmann, who is traveling with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.
Strassmann said the grenades were rolled into two commanders' tents at the camp. When officers ran from the tents, they were hit by small arms fire.
"From our reports it appears that a terrorist penetrated Camp Pennsylvania, one or more terrorists threw two hand grenades into a tent," said George Heath, spokesman at Fort Campbell, home base of the 101st.
Strassman said three suspects were being held for questioning, two Kuwaitis who served a translators and an American soldier described as a black Muslim.
The injured soldiers were rushed to a field hospital but military officials had no word on their conditions, Lt. Cmdr. Charles Owens said from Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar.
The military did not identify the unit of the 101st that was in the camp but said it had been in Kuwait for about one week. Most of the division has entered southern Iraq.
Separately, Strassmann reported, an Iraqi rocket fired at U.S. forces in Kuwait was destroyed by Patriot missiles launched from nearby Camp New Jersey.
The terror and missile attack came as the U.S. assault on Iraq gained steam. American and British forces besieged the southern city of Basra and pounded Baghdad with impunity. But tough fighting loomed for coalition troops as they pressed deeper into Iraq.

You just don't get that terrorism is
I most certainly do.
I don't believe in fighting terrorism by taking action against hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of non-terrorists.

Agree. It is Muslim fanatics and not the color of one's skin. Fanatics such as John Walker Lindh(sp) and others are white.

Yes, CBS is going to catch hell later on for removing that black muslim reference, coming on the heels of their phony Saddam translater. Jim Lacey, the Time reporter who was at the scene when it happened, was on Larry King Live and mentioned that he had an arabic last name, in part to shoot down speculation that it might have just been a soldier cracking under stress. Someone had their vcr rolling, so it is saved for posterity.
CBS changing the story may end up giving that angle more publicity, considering the Beltway Sniper parallel and the dancing around his religious affiliation.

Guaranteed that not one other network will touch this angle of the story.
Who wants to bet me that not a single network other than Fox will even mention the word "muslim" in the context of this story in the coming days?
No takers? Didn't think so.
I'm so angry, and so livid, over this story that if I say what I wanted to I'd be banned, and I've only been a member a few days.
I'm so spittin' mad I've gotta go have a drink and calm down.
Of all the horrors and outrages of the protest movement, Tommy Daschole, and the Dems, the anti-war, leftist media...everything...this story is the worst. Traitor, fifth column, enemies with in...
ARGH!

No surprise that 'ol Pete would dodge anything that makes Islam look bad. His ex live in girlfriend is that female mouthpiece (Hanah al-Shawiri or something like that) for the PLO. They were living together when he was the Bureau Chief in Lebbanon.

The majority of US muslims do not hold that worldview.
If you can provide proof otherwise, I will drop this argument. If you can't, then perhaps you shouldn't lead with "where do you get this from?"

"Has ABC called him Muslim?"
No. Jennings spent all of "World News Tonight" ducking the issue, promising future reports when the situation "solidifies."

Re: Why can't you let the man alone in his grief?
Because HE chose to vent his grief on national television, THAT'S WHY!
If I lose my loved one over there, God forbid, I will NOT go on TV and blame my president.
The son volunteered!
He wasn't drafted!
President Bush didn't pull the trigger.
Therefore this rant was totally uncalled for irregardless. He was just grandstanding for his moment before the camera.

If he has any other little Muslim buddies planning on going jihad on our troops, how would we know about it, unless the POS is alive and sweated for the info?

Anyone who still holds up those values simply does not know the monstrous history of the Left. I suspect that the most virulent of the leftists are very familiar with history. Just like Saddam admired Stalin, they admire Lenin, or Mao (or pick another murdering tyrant).

From the Seattle Times (November 10, 2002)
Retired Sgt. Berentson, the man who has kept Muhammad's name and dog-tag number in his wallet for the past 11 years, says the road should have dead-ended for Muhammad years ago.
Why Muhammad didn't end up behind bars in 1991, neither Berentson nor anyone else in the U.S. Army's 84th Engineering Company can explain. In the first months of that year, the unit was in the Middle East preparing for the ground-attack phase of the Gulf War.
The story, according to Berentson and at least two other former members of the 84th, was that Muhammad threw a thermite grenade into a tent housing 16 of his fellow soldiers.
Thermite grenades - made of finely granulated aluminum mixed with a metal oxide, and blasting heat up to 1,200 degrees - are used to destroy equipment during battle. The attack could easily have killed or maimed, but all 16 in the tent, some coughing and choking, escaped unharmed.
Berentson was in the tent. He says the grenade went off near him and near a staff sergeant with whom Muhammad had fought earlier that day. The Army's Criminal Investigation Division, Berentson says, concluded Muhammad (then named Williams) was the lead suspect.
Muhammad was led away in handcuffs and eventually transferred to another company pending charges. He had been court-martialed twice before for lesser incidents while serving in the Louisiana National Guard. But an indictment over the grenade incident never materialized, and Muhammad's Army file has no record of it.
Muhammad's side of the story, as told to his then-wife Mildred, was that after he was accused of the attack, he was hogtied and humiliated by his fellow soldiers in a way that he would never forgive or forget. The experience, Mildred told a Washington Post reporter, would change him permanently.
