Yes, CBS is going to catch hell later on for removing that black muslim reference, coming on the heels of their phony Saddam translater. Jim Lacey, the Time reporter who was at the scene when it happened, was on Larry King Live and mentioned that he had an arabic last name, in part to shoot down speculation that it might have just been a soldier cracking under stress. Someone had their vcr rolling, so it is saved for posterity.

CBS changing the story may end up giving that angle more publicity, considering the Beltway Sniper parallel and the dancing around his religious affiliation.

US Soldier "frags" 101st Airborne Command Tents, Injures 13

BBSNews - 2003-03-22 -- US Central Command reported earlier "An unknown assailant or assailants attacked elements of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Camp Pennsylvania, Kuwait at approximately 1:30 a.m. local (March 23), injuring 13 soldiers. The wounded soldiers were medically evacuated to a Combat Service Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The area has been secured and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the attack."

CNN has Time Magazine correspondent Jim Lacey, inside Camp Pennsylvania. Lacey reported at about 9:15 EST that an American soldier is being held for this incident. During the Vietnam War there were similar occurances but this time there is speculation on why it has happened so early in the US war on Iraq. Lacey also reported that he was cleared to say the soldier was of "Arabic" descent and that the soldier had been discontent and having some discipline problems.

Authorities are said to be questioning the soldier at this time.

I hope you're right about CBS catching hell and that more publicity will attach to it -- I intend to follow this story. Y'all might be interested to know that, since I last posted (mentioning that CBS radio referred to traitor as a muslim), continuing rotation radio reports now do not mention the muslim aspect. It's absolutely sickening!! WorldNetDaily reported it and had a backup report to Strassman's initial report.
