(CBS) Ten U.S. soldiers were injured, six or seven of them seriously, in a grenade and small arms attack at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassmann, who is traveling with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.
Strassmann said the grenades were rolled into two commanders' tents at the camp. When officers ran from the tents, they were hit by small arms fire.
"From our reports it appears that a terrorist penetrated Camp Pennsylvania, one or more terrorists threw two hand grenades into a tent," said George Heath, spokesman at Fort Campbell, home base of the 101st.
Strassman said three suspects were being held for questioning, two Kuwaitis who served a translators and an American soldier described as a black Muslim.
The injured soldiers were rushed to a field hospital but military officials had no word on their conditions, Lt. Cmdr. Charles Owens said from Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar.
The military did not identify the unit of the 101st that was in the camp but said it had been in Kuwait for about one week. Most of the division has entered southern Iraq.
Separately, Strassmann reported, an Iraqi rocket fired at U.S. forces in Kuwait was destroyed by Patriot missiles launched from nearby Camp New Jersey.
The terror and missile attack came as the U.S. assault on Iraq gained steam. American and British forces besieged the southern city of Basra and pounded Baghdad with impunity. But tough fighting loomed for coalition troops as they pressed deeper into Iraq.

I just heard that too. I feel like I'm hearing stuff that I wish could not possibly be true yet I know it probably is. I've been around some militant Muslims in my time. I can see this.
We need a purge of these guys over there now. An example needs to be made. I'm sure there are plenty of volunteers for that duty.

Oh, no. This guy is to be the poster boy for the evil people like him and their causes represent. I *can't wait* for the anti-war pukes to scream he's a hero. Their self-destruction will be legendary.

re that pic" isn't that sedition and/or insurrection? Not really. They're just suggesting US military officers should be shot. That's not treasonous or anti-American. Anti-war activists are normal people, good people, just like any other Americans. </sarcasm>

In which way? Are you hitting me from the side that I am being too hard on Muslims, or not hard enough?

The practical problem (as distinct from the obvious moral problem of religious bigotry) with this "kick the Muslims out!" crap is that it is counterproductive.
I believe that the main reason for our current Minetic unwillingness to institute commonsensical security measures (such as screening Muslim soldiers for radical associations) is that people who propose such measures end up being lumped in with lunatic Muslim-haters. The same with people who call for Muslim groups to disassociate themselves from radicals and terrorists.
There is no way that Muslims in the services are going to be scrutinized for radicalism--which they damn well should be--because people don't want to feel like they are giving any ground to bigotry.
And the last people the bigots will think of blaming are themselves.

"Someone on Rita Cosby's just said that there are 13 muslim chaplins in the U.S. military, and at least 9 of them are 'wahabi' muslims."That's the part that totally disgusts me. Wahhabism is The Enemy...and here we have welcomed them with open arms into OUR MILITARY.

I'm sneaking a quick Freep at the moment, in the middle of a BBQ, but I wanted to placemark your post. I think I've got some NC stuff on Jamaat al Fuqra, a Pakistan-affiliated terror org, associated with Balck Muslims. I'll get back to you on this later.

Strap him to the front of the first tank into Baghdad. Then we wouldn't be able to charge his family for the bullet.

Not so fast. We need to have a Lo-ong conversation first.

Well, that's good. I believe it was the commander's tent that was attacked. Please freep mail me when you hear something about your son! I have a son in his 20's and I can only imagine how you feel right now. God bless you and him.

Good luck in keeping it from the troops. It'll be around the cams faster than FNC can throw it up as a news alert!

Col. Hunt bringing up excellent points...I am surprised by Rita's coherency tonight.
I really like Col. Hunt! They need to have him on a lot more. When I was teaching school in Fairfax, VA in 1996 one of my students was a black kid from Senegal. His father was Muslim and in the Army. He really gave me the creeps. I wondered about him because everytime he came to school he was dressed in Muslim garb and I wondered when he ever wore an Army uniform. Supposedly people from foreign countries can join the U.S. army to gain American citizenship.

You are a very scary person, allowing a small minority to define an entire population in your mind. Thank God that people didn't let Tim McVeigh define white Christians in their mind (despite Clinton's best efforts).

So-called Black Muslims labeled themselves. The movement began in this country in the '60s. Yes. And, more likely than not, they were motivated by leftist anti-capitalist ideology more than religious faith. More of Lenin's malcontent "useful idiots". That's all.
To: gg188
I think he is addressing arabs where he means muslims. If you are an infidel, it is of no consequence for a muslim to lie to you. If you were a muslim however, that would be wrong.
