I thought the line went dead on Lacey.

Go get the book "Bias". It's an easy read if you read a lot, and a real eye-opener.

It would be better for Sephardic Jews and Coptic Christians to do the Arabic translations. Yes, indeed. There's an old Italian saying, traduttore traidore. It means, "translator, traitor." We have to be very careful with our translators, although most of them certainly wouldn't commit an overt act of violence like this. But they might mistranslate.
In Spain, under Alfonso X, translations were done by teams with one or two native speakers and a Spaniard very fluent in their language; we've got to go back to this system.

These were officer's tents and they were carrying on business at the time according to Shep on Fox News.Sad. God bless them.

...had to have their focus sharpened.
I recal a thread this week where a poster wrote that our military is walking around with empty weapons in Kuwait.
As a Priviate E-2 at Ft. Benning in 1961, during the Cuban mistle thing, I walked guard duty with an empty M-1.
At Ft. Polk, in 1967, as Officer of the Day, I posted guards and NCO's on guard duty at the Post Armory, with empty weapons.
Has this kind of madness continued? Maybe it has. Tom

I don't know. I just can't watch them. If they only knew how unimportant they are becoming. The so-called 2nd tier guys and gals at FOX, MSNBC and even CNN sometimes seem to understand what is going on. The "three wise men" can't go the way of Uncle Walter Dumb Dumb soon enough for me.

Too much emphasis by the brass on Compassionate warmaking. The CO is responsible but the mood has been set from the top. This will sharpen their focus but it's a damn shame that they had to have their focus sharpened.
It's better to have it sharpened now than before they get to Baghdad where I expect this to be the norm.
Makes me sick - Wolf Blitzer just talked about how military leaders were worried about this, worried about terrorists. I'd love to reach through the TV and slap Wolf and say "Wolf, this wasn't a terrorist attack, and military leaders apparently are little too comfortable in Kuwait. They've gotten a little too used to only having to worry about missile attacks, and they should be in a combat mindset and a mindset of thinking that in every little city, there maybe one or two Iraqis or whatever staying behind to cause problems like this."
I have a lot of respect for many of those in command, I even served under a few I've seen on the TV, however I would not be surprised if somebody of a lower rank is nailed for this.

I just finished it... yes, easy read - but I wasn't shocked by anything I read...it just reinforced my perceptions.

didja happen to pass that info on Yes. Haven't heard anything, but I suspect that's because this guy was already on their watch list. Two other employees of the translation agency he worked for had been arrested a couple of weeks earlier for smuggling messages from jail for that same sheik.

The line went dead after a few seconds of what sounded like gunfire. To Dobb's great credit, he refused to speculate on what was going on. Good for him. CNN doesn't deserve him.
To: Carney Asada
Dobbs always struck me as a pompous ass.

What are you doing here posting at the same exact moment as me???

There are a lot of good 'ol American boys studying in the military right now to rectify that situation [translation]... I sure hope so. This has been a real problem for us.

No I do not talk to him... It is a blog, like a diary of what is going on in his view. I think he communicates through someone and they post his replies on the blog. His identity has to be kept quiet, due the regime (well at least for now)... I don't know who he is and only ran across the blog a few weeks ago. I have been reading it about every few days. (the link to the blog I posted in this back in this thread.)
