Couric Collaborates in Rehabilitation of Tiny Tom Daschle
The Today Show

Posted on 03/21/2003 5:14:53 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Tiny Tom Daschle just concluded an interview with Katie Couric on The Today Show.

Katie's clear intent: damage control for the diminutive Daschle in the wake of his odious criticism, on the eve of War, of President Bush's diplomacy.

While it was necessary for purposes of Katie's strategy to replay Daschle's intemperate remarks, before she even began her questioning she replayed some conciliatory and supportive comments Daschle made yesterday on the Senate floor.

Only then did Couric begin her questioning. Now imagine that a Republican had been on the hot seat in similar circumstances. Katie's first question would have undoubtedly been along the lines: "on the eve of war, with American men and women about to go into harm's way, don't you think it was harmful to their morale to undermine the leadership of their Commander in Chief?"

But instead of framing the question in terms of the unpatriotic nature of Daschle's remarks, Couric passed them off as just more wrangling between political parties.

Thus her first question was:

"Do you think this will create a chasm between Dems and Republicans?" This gave Daschle the opening to talk about the resolution unanimously passed by the Senate supporting the troops and the Commander in Chief.

That was it, the totality of Katie's "grilling" of Daschle on what was arguably the most despicable statement by a major political leader in a time of war since WWII.

From there, it was on to happy talk for the two: a mutual love-in of budget and tax-cut bashing.

Thus Katie's next question was: "Some are outraged that Bush budget sets aside $700 billion in tax cuts but nothing for costs of war."

And Katie went on to observe some "moderates" want to cut the tax cut in half. So tax-and-spend liberal opponents of Pres. Bush are magically transformed into "moderates".

Katie concluded with this "hard-hitting" question: "What is major question you would like to ask President?"

IIRC it was the affable Eva Braun of morning tv. She brought the name up when she interviewed Anne again IIRC.

From what I saw it was the Far LEFT side of her ugly face that took most the splog! I'd be surprised if she could get the weird slit of a mouth open enough even for Tiny Tim DASShole!

Are we sure that's Daschle, or could it been one of his seven body doubles?

I saw Daschle on CNN this morning.... then on Fox. Fortunately I missed the Couric interview. I'm not an especially violent person... but if I was in the same room with Daschle... I'd hit him in the head with a 2 x 4.

A 2 X 4?

A toothpick or matchstick would be more than sufficient.

From the archives, Katie, this one's for you:

MIDI - TELL LAURA I LOVE HER

Our Katie Couric, that perky one
You won’t believe what she’s done
Just look and you’ll see
She shows her butt right on TV

We are sure it will win the sweeps
Though, of course, it gives you the creeps
Children all watch…they’re filled with glee
It’s Katie’s colonoscopy

The nurses are screaming…a nightmare they’re dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katie’s brain

So Katie’s now the butt of their jokes
Inside her each doctor pokes
They cannot believe their eyes
The viewer’s getting a big surprise

They say she has made history
Something like this you’ll never see
One screams out, “I can’t concur
Most Democrats are just like her”

The nurses are screaming…a nightmare they’re dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katie’s brain

They stitch her up…it’s finally done
She’ll take time off out in the sun
People say each time they pass
Hey, we know your head’s in your @ss

The nurses are screaming…a nightmare they’re dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katie’s brain

The nurses are screaming…a nightmare they’re dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katie’s brain

In 1998 When Bill Clinton was President:

Daschle: "Look, we have exhausted virtually our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force them to do so? . This is the key question. And the answer is, we don't have another option. We have got to force them to comply, and we are doing so militarily."

In 2003 When George W. Bush is President:

Daschle: "I'm saddened, saddened that this president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we're now forced to war. Saddened that we have to give up one life because this president couldn't create the kind of diplomatic effort that was so critical for our country."

In her interview with Daschle on Fox & Friends this morning, E.D. Hill gave him a chance to rehabilitate himself by asking him who he thought was responsible for the "diplomatic failure" he had been talking about: France or the United States (GWB).

He refused to answer by saying, "I won't go there..". E.D. said, "Oh, but I wish you would".

I have the whole interview on videotape.

Daschle refused to take the side of the United States over France again this morning.

The Leftist DemocRAT Party is making a concerted effort (with the help of their Marxist/DemocRAT friends in the media), to help Daschle rehab himself, but he shot himself in the foot again this morning. His hatred and resentment for George W. Bush is much stronger than his love for America and what's good for her.

He and the rest of his DemocRAT friends can hide their hatred as long as they only get the soft-ball questions from the likes of Larry King, Peter Jennings, Katie Couric, et.al., ad-nauseum.

Thanks E.D.!! You did Fox proud this morning!

What did Ann say to that? Something to the effect of "It was true when I said it then, and it's true now"?

I wonder what sound would result if she rubbed her legs together? Hmmm

Guaranteed.....it wouldn't start a fire!

Reminds me of an old Red Foxx joke: "That woman is so cold....when her legs open....a light goes on!"

Katie looked a little depressed when I saw her this morning - I guess she was hoping for massive American casualties.

You need to get this tape to a Freeper that can put a clip on the Net with the body of your post. We did something like this with Craig Kilborn and really roasted his liberal heinie good.

The question I wanted ED to ask him was ... "Mr. Daschle, do you understand that the majority of Americans believe that two days before a war is not an acceptable timeframe for what you said. Not any more acceptable than saying it today. Do you Mr. Daschle really believe that most voting Americans can't see completely through your hypocritical posturing and your meaningless vote in the Senate yesterday?"

Couric is a gutless, over-the-hill, grossly overpaid, media whore. I know, I know, don't sugar coat it. I should say what I really feel, but the delicate sensibilities of some of our younger participants may be disturbed!! ;-)

Morning, Doug,

There's another song that applies to perky Katie, without any change in the lyrics. It's a Don Henley classic:

"The bubble-headed bleach blonde comes on at five,
She'll tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye,
It's in'tresting when people die,
Give us dir-ty laun-dry ..."

The original song was about the evening news. But it could be 5 a.m. as well. Katie's just selective in her dirty laundry. If it belongs to the people she's biased in favor of, it stays in the hamper.

Congressman Billybob

Latest column, not yet up on UPI, and FR, "Don't Trust My Words"

Latest book(let), "to Restore Trust in America."

"Some are outraged that Bush budget sets aside $700 billion in tax cuts but nothing for costs of war."

She's still using that "some are ..." angle? Who the hell is this "some" she's always quoting?
