I am not going to be watching and bet a lot of folks will be doing the same thing....they can have their little bash President Bush Party all by their lonesome while the sponsors take it in the shorts!

Please forgive my ignorance, but is it sometime soon?

FoxNews sometimes quotes the NY Times headlines. I'm not saying Turkey isn't trouble, but based on their war coverage and post-2000 history, reasonable people (as Rummy might say) could agree that CNN is picking at sore spots, hoping to incite big problems for US.

No sirens, at least on the MSNBC webcam, but a lot of artillery rumbling in the distance.

MOAB used?

Massive blasts near Basra
By staff reporters and AFP
March 21, 2003

A SERIES of big explosions have been reported near the southern Iraqi city of Basra.

"We can see huge explosions and fireballs on the horizon towards Basra," Reuters correspondent David Fox said from a vantage point overlooking the frontier about 50km south of Basra.

The scale of the explosion suggests a Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb may have been deployed.

The 9450kg MOAB has supplanted the Daisy Cutter in the US arsenal as the world's largest conventional bomb.

Explosions were also heard in or around the main northern Iraqi city of Mosul early Friday, Al-Jazeera television reported from the scene.

The blasts occurred around half an hour after raid sirens sounded over the the city for the fourth time since the US-led war on Iraq began early Thursday.

Entire Division of Iraqi Army Surrenders

By MATT KELLEY
The Associated Press
Friday, March 21, 2003; 6:59 PM

An entire division of the Iraqi army, numbering 8,000 soldiers, surrendered to coalition forces in southern Iraq Friday, Pentagon officials said.

Iraq's 51st Infantry Division surrendered as coalition forces advanced toward Basra, Iraq's second largest city. The mechanized division had about 200 tanks before the war, according to independent analysts and U.S. officials.

The 51st was one of the better equipped and trained in Iraq's regular army forces and was the key division protecting Basra, a major transportation and oil shipment hub on the Shatt al-Arab waterway that leads to the Persian Gulf.

Yes, and that bodes well. Basra is a strategic asset. We also got the bride across the Euphrates, and are on the move northwest. We're also moving east from airfield bases in Jordan. Republican Guard is in for trouble. After that, either watch Baghdad, or roll in.

I'm concerned about the Iraqi creeps who may put on US uniforms and kill innocents -- no need for futher orders, these guys would have to be the equivalent of Don Corleone, each one.
