Yeah I know what you mean about it being slow. But IMHO it's a deliberate thing. The "shock and awe" that we've heard about may not be needed if we killed Saddam and some of his inner circle last night. But from personal experience, this thing can go from slow to supersonic with one radio call.

the saddam video this evening, and the guy was breathing too slowly -- either drugged to the gills or terribly wounded or both

Agree. I noticed that he looked hurt. Maybe physically, or perhaps he'd sustained a heavy psychological blow, like death of a son. Then I wondered whether it was Saddam at all, as he looked quite different from the Saddam that Rather interviewed. Rather looked very doubtful about that video too, muttering..."if it is Saddam." Whoever the guy was, he seemed quite stiff in the chest region, perhaps wound with bandages under that jacket?

Surrender would be wonderful, but who will do the surrendering? And on what terms? I hope we hear more on this soon.

I am beginning to wonder if we're just trying to prod Saddam into doing one huge purge...

I am sorry to tell you that wars usually do not end in just 24 hours.

I wouldn't blow this off just yet - we may have actually killed Sadpoop and one or two of his boys yesterday.

If so, that was all the que senior Republican Guards needed.

It would take at least 12 to 24 hours to set up surrender channels.

Is it just me or is this the slowest damned war ever. I thought by now shock and awe would be on the tube shocking and awing all of us. This war is pretty disappointing tv wise. Dont flame and lecture me,yeah, I don't want people killed, yadda yadda.

Yadda yadda? you do deserve to be lectured. You should have gone to see a movie. Reality will never measure up. The angles and lighting are not perfect, the cinematography second rate? - Those are real sons and daughters out there, not actors for your amusement.

As I said in another thread, I don't think we are privy to 10% of what is happening. This is probably the biggest media event ever, but we know next to nothing. We have ground forces flying north, strange pinpoint attacks, is Saddam dead? Now, if you think that's frustrating for us, imagine being a high up Iraqi official, or Saddam himself? We must be screwing with these guys minds something fierce.

It would be good if all surrendered and no one had to die in this war. How much better off the Iraqi's would be.
