Dixie Chicks Slam Bush on Foreign Soil

The other night, at their opening for their tour in London, they indicated on stage that they were sad to know/hear that our President was from Texas. Again, it is sad to see and hear yet another "celebrity" announcing that they are ashamed of their President of their Unites States. I just wish we would get over and get back so that these "celebrities" would quit using all of these Grammy, Emmy, own concert "stages" to provide their political saitre.

No -- Ian Tyson is still king.

(All right -- so he's Canadian. LOL)

Oh, for the days of Faron Young and Marty Robbins...

Give Don Edwards a listen...he has a great voice, sounds a lot like Marty, and is not a traitor.

Be sure to send a copy of your letters to Sean Hannity, too. He is a big country fan, has some of the stars on his show, and can probably have a bigger impact than us individually. Mailing him now ... FReep on!

Good point about renaming speeches to Dixie Chix songs. We should also drag Charlie Robison into the mix...he's married to one of the Chix and right now he's a judge on USA's Country Idol. If we boycott that show's sponsors it will put a little bit of marital stress on them. If we can't get the Dixie Sh!ts to shut up, we can at least try to get them divorced.

There's a lot of good country around that hasn't been tainted by Nashville. Try some Ian Tyson, especially, "Old Corrals and Sagebrush" or "I Outgrew the Wagon" Old timey ranch music, well done and not overproduced. Don Edwards is great and so are Sons of the San Juaquin.

That's an interesting quote from John Lennon.

On a similar note, I once heard a fascinating story from a DJ in New York who truly believes that John Lennon went through life haunted by the fact that he did not write a particular song (Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale"). The DJ said that he would happen to see Lennon driving his Bentley in Manhattan once every month or so, and nearly every time he saw him, that song was playing on Lennon's car radio.

The Chicks' laughable attempt at "damage control":

From the Dixie Chicks with respect to statements being reported in the British media

3/12/2003

From the Dixie Chicks

"We've been overseas for several weeks and have been reading and following the news accounts of our governments' position. The anti-American sentiment that has unfolded here is astounding. While we support our troops, there is nothing more frightening than the notion of going to war with Iraq and the prospect of all the innocent lives that will be lost."

Maines further stated, "I feel the President is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view."

Right out of the Hollywood leftist playbook. Say bye bye to your careers, girls!

My husband loves that soldier song. He begged me to buy their CD for him. I just told him this thing and he told me not to buy it now. What idiots.

I posted a message at their site. I do think it would be beneficial if we kept from calling them "pigs," "sluts," etc. Name-calling is not going to help make a point.

You probably are referring to my post - of the same moniker. I make no apologies to a band of pampered princesses that makes a hit single out of glorifying the murder an American man - even if he was a fictional A-hole. Marginally fine. But when they implicitly make the connection of Bush as an Earl.....they've pushed me WAY over the top.

Perhaps a welcoming party can be arraigned to greet them when they return ?

GREAT IDEA!

I can see it now. Everytime one of these liberal USA bashing entertainers returns home they are greeted at the airport with protest signs telling them to 'whatever'. I'll go to one when it's close by.

Wow, that would be very powerful...
