Sounds like he wants to have his cake and eat it too

Too late Chirac .. the damage is done

Hey Chirac - GO AHEAD AND DO IT! France will be on the wrong side of history, AGAIN.

My mother who is a total Francophile - or I should say, WAS a total Francophile - said to me last night, "the French can all drown in the Seine as far as I'm concerned!" Pretty well sums it up for me!

Thank you for the reference to the Ledeen article in the NR. Quite chilling. If I knew how to do so, I would post it.

If so, great. This could result in best case scenario under the circumstances. Nine votes yes, we can claim a moral victory, so to speak. France casts a veto and sinks the U.N. We go anyway into Iraq and rid ourselves of that mess. I am sick of all the nonsense going on in the U.N., but we're in the swamp now, and this might be a good way out.

Saddam Hussein wins one. This is a gift from France. Another gift from China is forthcoming. Sky News states that Hussein will use WMDs against our troops. France and China speachless.

"Chirac came on TV and announced this himself. I suspect we just might have the votes."

Precisely. Powell must have gotten enough votes for this to pass, thus France is now playing its last card in an attempt to get some more "No" votes.

They're afraid. They know they're backed into a corner. Let 'em. We'll just plow right on over them.

Almost sounds like the french WANT to do away with the UN, doesn't it?
