KADEK is the new name of PKK. This is a Kurdish terrorist organization, listed as such by the US DoS. This organization has ties to the leaders of the PUK nad the KDP in northern Irak.

Turkey has been exposed to terrorism for years that has never been experienced before in any country. This terrorism has shown itself in various forms. Unfortunately, in the end thousands of our innocent people have lost their lives (approx 36000), thousands of people have become disabled, and economic loss worth of millions (that's really billions) of dollars has been realized.

This country has a regrettable history of making the most inappropriate alliances, and then wandering around like a deer in the headlights, going, "What happened?" when these erstwhile allies go off & commit some new mayhem. Vietnam, El Salvador, Nicaragua, the mujahadeen in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the list goes on. Now the Kurds, apparently.

Has the Turkish military made any progress in prodding the Parliament?

I haven't seen anything new. I suggest that in doing that the military would be seen in interfereing in the elections to be held this coming Sunday.

I'll post any news I can find soon as I do.

Protecting Turkish democracy is far more important to the U.S. than allowing the U.S. to have full access to open a northern front in Iraq. This would not have been a good time for the military to step in and correct the civil authorities in Turkey.

Didn't I see earlier today that equipment is transiting Turkey for N. Iraq, and troops will be flying in to link up in Free N. Iraq? No invasion force needs be staged in Turkey if we just scoot on through...

Hey Saddam, we're over here! (Kuwait) No, over here! (N. Iraq) No, over here! (Jordan) No, over here! (W. Saudi)....

guide each one of those to specific separate targets.

The folks here who are calling for the creation of Kurdistan in order to get revenge on Turkey don't know what they're talking about. They're the same crowd that has been calling for months now to nuke Mecca.

It's completely ignorant of the realities of the situation, and it completely ignores the long-term consequences. But, what are you going to do? It's doubtful they are interested in being educated. Fortunately, we do have a highly-skilled foreign policy team at the White House, and they seem to be doing pretty well so far.

Thankyou for the links. I'm going through them.

I am sympathetic to the Kurdish situation in Iraq, as you may have gathered, but in no way am I sympathetic to the PKK. Their tactics are reminiscent of the tactics of the Viet Cong. Anyone that purposely targets innocents has already lost their souls. And whatever you have to do to get the guys that do these things is also just fine with me.

A handful of misfits attacked us, and killed 3000 innocents, maybe a tenth of what Turkey has suffered, and we are going to chase them down to the ends of the earth. I expect no less of Turkey. We have to distinguish between the ones that did this, and the ones that didn't. And one of the things we have to do is drain the swamp, so to speak, which is part of what drives us in Afghanistan, and part of what drives us in Iraq.

It gets complicated. We are trying to separate the Pashtuns from the Taliban, and we are trying to separate the Kurds from the PKK. It gets tricky, because if you kill the wrong people you just create more recruits. But while you try to find common cause where you can, and try to avoid doing more harm than good, you still have to identify and find the killers and kill them.

16 GBU-32 JDAM (2000lbs)
80 GBU-30 JDAM (500lbs)

Can you imagine a flight of 10 B-2s flying over a city and releasing 800 500lb bombs on one bomb run?

Thank you for posting this. God bless those poor people. We make a giant mistake (and an evil one) if we get in bed with terrorists.
