My teenage daughter broke the news to me, knowing how much I admire him. (When I was pregnant with her and very sick for a few weeks he was one of the only things I would turn on TV...he was so soothing it really comforted me.) As a child I adored Lady Aberlin especially! :) He truly left the world a much better place than he found it.

My roomate in college did an internship at PBS, and Mr. Rogers was one of her mentors. I met him on a couple of occasions when he was here. He was a kind and generous man. He had so much to teach the world. I am so sad that my children will not grow up with him as I did. Thank goodness for reruns. At least they will see him in that way. He was greatly loved and will be missed. Thanks for everything Fred, God's speed to you.

I can still remember watching Mr. Rogers as a little kid. He was one of the only things worth watching on government-funded television (along with "Sesame Street"). He will definitely be missed greatly.

Thanks, Mr. Rogers. I watched you as a child, and I loved you. Luckly, my parents loved me very much, and though I may have ended up the same without watching, on reflection maybe I wouldn't have. You were one in a million, and showing me that, I realize I could be one too. Thank you.

I remember watching those early 15 minute pre PBS shows when I was in kindergarden around 1966, I loved the puppets. I think this was also my first exposure to jazz music. The background music was always a cool piano player and drummer on brushes, I think his name was Johnny Costa? I remember reading that he passed away a few years ago, very cool sound.

My wife cleaned Mr Rogers teeth a few times before we moved from Pittsburgh in 85. She always says he was the calmest, gentlest man she ever met, even at the Dentist office.

P.S. I never met Jack Bogut, but tell him I had breakfast with him every weekday he was on from 1968 until I graduated from HS in 79. That guy used to really crack us up in the morning. I didn't know he is still on the air.

JMHO, but I don't think that it's necessary. A 4 year old still has a hard time distinguishing b/w reality and fantasy, throwing death into the equation, makes that even more difficult.
