JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Feb. 25 Disavowing President Bushs pleas not to blame mainstream Muslims for terrorism, the Rev. Jerry Vines of Jacksonvilles powerhouse First Baptist Church calls the Prophet Muhammad a demon-plagued pedophile and preaches that Islam is a religion of hate. The sentiment runs so strongly that few clergymen are willing to confront Vines. NBCs Bob Faw reports from Jacksonville.

There is a video at the link. This was on NBC Nightly News (which I never watch) last night...I found out about it tonight at church. It shows our church at the beginning then another church and then goes back to ours. They interviewed Muslims and some folks at a church where I think they are afraid to speak the truth about Islam.
Dr. Vines read his response to us at the beginning of church. I hope that the response 'in full' is placed on the website. NBC is the one 'stirring the pot', so to speak, and Tom Brokaw stands first in line to be the 'Jesse Jackson' of news reporters as far as I'm concerned.
I really don't know why NBC chose to run this now, I thought it was old news. Any thoughts as to their intent in airing this?

I don't know.... except the mainstream media wants to be PC about Islam. Its not Christianity that needs to clean up its house, its the Religion Of Peace that has to demonstrate its more than just a sect that blows up people and buildings in the name of Allah.

How dare he call someone who boinks an 11 year old girl a pedophile? After all, they'd been married for two years.

They're airing it basically because political correctness demands denunciation of anyone who dares call a spade a spade.

Bush happens to be president of ALL the people in a country that protects freedom of religion...including that of Muslims.

Married at 6 and consummated at 9. Mohammed was in his 50's

There was critique of this segment posted earlier today that was a response from the SBC and others.

It would seem that Everyone wants Vines to apologize for saying unpleasant things about Islam and its principal practitioners. So tell me, when have the mullahs and imams of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and elsewhere apologized for the things they've said about Judaism and Christianity??

The Rev. Vines is a great man. And he knows that it is more important to be correct than politically correct.

Do you recall the title of the thread? I did a search on the actual title before I posted this and it didn't come up. Thanks....

Is Bush also the President of Christian Identity (the religion that believes that blacks, Jews, Catholics, and others are of the devil)?

Is Bush also the President of Christian Identity (the religion that believes that blacks, Jews, Catholics, and others are of the devil)? Being President of ALL people in a nation that grants freedom of religion means Bush cannot take positions like the ones you describe above.

When Hell freezes over and by the way... the Religion Of Peace is not known for turning the other cheek.

If you lie down with dogs, you might wake up with fleas.
If this Reverend wants to be a star on NBC news, he should not be crying foul now.
Michael Jackson got the treatment, and so do most people who are portrayed by the media.
Unless this Reverend lives under a rock, he should have seen it coming.
It's call editing.

Vines is essentially correct. It's time people quit babying Islam and instead called it what it is. One of the reasons Islam has become powerful is because it is not confronted.
