My Thoughts Today, by Barbra Streisand Posted on Feb. 20, 2003
A few things caught my eye this past weekend...among them:
Condoleezza Rice on Meet the Press: Condoleezza Rice wants us to believe that one of the reasons for invading Iraq is to save the poor Iraqi people who are being persecuted by Saddam Hussein. But what about our own soldiers and Iraqi civilians who will be killed in the process?
Ms. Rice knows the real reason we are invading Iraq right now, she just doesn't want to say it because it doesn't sound quite as noble as saving the Iraqi people. The real reasons are:
1) OIL: Ms. Rice used to have an oil tanker named after her. And she used to be on the corporate board of Chevron...so she knows the importance Iraq plays in terms of access to oil. And she knows what the oil companies stand to gain if we get rid of Saddam.
2) DISTRACTION: The War on Terrorism has not been as successful as President Bush has stated, and he is feeling pressure to do something, even if that something has nothing to do with actually fighting terrorism! The Bush administration thinks they can fool us into thinking they have the terrorism situation under control by going after Saddam, when all they are doing is exacerbating the problem by creating more outrage against the United States from potential terrorists.

Is BS part owner of Tri-Star Productions? If so, she has control of lots of actors income and would explain her weight in Gollyweird???

Argument #2 is a joke. She says we are going to Iraq as a distraction from war on terror being a failure. This Iraq story has been playing out since before the ousting of the Taliban in Afghanistan. The debate which they demanded before Congress and the UN has played out on her team's timetable. So to talk about this in terms of Bush doing this to hide from failures in war on terror is a joke. If it was up to us we would have done this a long time ago. Duh. And as for this 'wag the dog' suggestion, what was BS's take on the timing of her lover Bubba's missile distractions in Afghanistan, sudan and Iraq, all timing perfectly with Lewinsky plot points.

When this is over BS should be forced to go to Iraq and make these statements to the Iraqi people to see how they receive her "thought".

Barbra is right. This war is about money and oil!
The French are making a great deal of money off of the oil in Iraq! They own two oil fields in the country, and are the main oil group in Iran, where the US is forbidden to be, by law.
I would be interested to know how many of the celebrities marching in "Peace" marches are investors in the French oil company, TotalFinaElf? Can anyone find the names of the investors? Is Streisand there?
In 1990 TotalFinaElf's capitalization was about $3 billion. Today, it is nearly $110 billion! Since 1995 the total real return to shareholders has been 30% a year!
At an international industrial trade fair held in Baghdad, in November 2002, 130 French companies, were represented. Their booth even won the fair's gold medal, as the best booth! But, of course they have won 6 years in a row. During those 6 years, Saddam kills his grandchildrens fathers and has his own wife placed in jail for complaining about it! He has his son shot for disagreeing with him, and that is just in his own household! As for the other citizens, children are raped, murdered, right in front of their parents....yet good ole France, who cares so much about the lives of others, is winning gold medals at a fair!
Total exports to Iraq, from France, were worth a record- breaking 660 million euros last year, compared with 398 million in 2000!
No wonder Chirac, who is a "good friend" of Saddam, does not want a war!
I like this quote, from from Streisand's site:
"Osama bin Laden's Statement: The media made it look like Osama bin Laden's most recent statement showed proof of a link between al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein...ignoring the fact that in the statement, when bin Laden asked the Muslim people to rise up against the United States, he also told the Iraqi people to rise up against Saddam. In bin Laden's statement, he expressed solidarity with the Muslim civilians of Iraq and the Middle East, not with Saddam Hussein."
So, that OBL must be a really great guy! We should believe him instead of our own President....

Condoleezza Rice on Meet the Press: Condoleezza Rice wants us to believe that one of the reasons for invading Iraq is to save the poor Iraqi people who are being persecuted by Saddam Hussein. So-Damn-Insane gassed the Kurds in his own country because he needed to test out his gas-bombs on live humans.
Insignificant persecution, Babs?

Not only that, but Ms. Rice has oil in the vehicle she drives to the Bush pow-wows. She has also been known to use cooking oil, and the fact she lives down the street from a gas station should be further proof of her duplicity.

There's the war for "Oil" thing again. LOL. I have yet to hear any of the libs answer (or asked for that matter) why, if it was about Oil, we didn't just take over Iraq back in '91.
Another thing, you'd think Babs, being Jewish, would have a bit more sympathy to a group of people under such conditions.
Babs must be another member of the "George Clooney Global Think Tank".
