32,000 Pig Ears Stolen

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- A 29-year-old Danish man was jailed for two weeks on charges he stole 32,000 dried pig ears from a Danish company that makes treats for pets.

A 26-year-old accomplice who admitted taking part in the weekend theft was also charged, but released, police said. Neither were identified in keeping with Danish law.

Pig ears feel more like plastic than leather, so I guess I could see how a sharp piece might lodge in her throat. Thanks for the concern.

My vet told me to never give my dogs pig ears because they splinter and become shards.

Rawhide is easier for them to chew and digest.

Some of those rawhide chews are so expensive, though. The one she really likes is about 5 dollars for one of them. My wife and I started getting the pig ears because there are a handful of them for about the same price, and we give one to her a day to make them last.

I'll have to talk to my wife about this, though. I never would have thought these pig ears would shatter. We don't get her bird bones for just that reason, only beef and pork bones.

Just goes to show you--you can never be too young, too rich, too thin-- or have too many pig ears
