WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.
Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:
"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.
In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.
We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.
Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

Yes, I need to remember that 'reserve' families do not have the daily military issues to deal with, and that some of them may be just as civilian as they come.
I understand what you both were trying to say. In the end I hope that this BS is drug out into the spotlight kicking and screaming so these teachers or this union (whichever) is shown for what it really is, despicable, un-American and in the least disrespectful towards service members families and YOUNG children.

WVOM led the 6:30 AM local news with the story and they had a comment from State Education Commissioner Duke Albanese in which he weaseled to the effect, "No names, what can I do. I've issued a warning and guidelines. Blah, blah, blah."
Keep it bumped.

WVOM is now backing the state's position that this has been overblown and nothing to worry about.
The Bangor Daily News has a front page story on the issue this morning, but they don't post on line until 8:30 or 9:00. When it's up, I'll post it.
Sounds like everybody has gone into CYA mode.

Wkwe, you are correct that Maine cannot be the only place where this horrible abuse of children is occurring. I'd look in New England or California if I were you. I agree with the posters who don't think it's happening in the Deep South, and I can tell you for sure one public school in the Deep South where the exact opposite is happening....

I Just sent this e-mail to every state rep in maine:
This is good for Maine tourism? First you guys attack the President and the troops now you stand by and let teachers attack the kids of those who go and fight?
Yup, the way to balance the budget is to drive away the tourist.

Sure they are saying that it isn't bad. These teachers feel that it is great for homosexual predators to push the great Gay life style. So they could care less about the children of active duty reservist and guard personnel being harrassed by a peacenik.
If this happened to a single child, it is a terrible thing that should never happen. Apparently, it was not an isolated case.
Keep us posted. Sean Hannity will address this if he hears about it. He will try to call the principles and superintendents to get their side after he blasts them.

You might want to contact Trueblackman about this.
He is on Sean's tv show quite often. TBM can probably help you get this out nationally via Sean's tv and radio show.

I retired to Maine 26 years ago. The political climate in this state is so Leftist-Socialist that I have reached the point of disgust with it. Many of us on the conservative side have tried hard to make changes, but the Teachers' Union controls the Legislature and change is impossible. I will suffer a substantial financial loss when I sell my house and property, but I intend to sell this spring and move to North Carolina.
I have taken all the Liberal Crap I can stand here in Maine.

I agree with you. If no satisfaction is from the head person, go to the vestry or local board.
The higher boards are often dominated by left wingers.

I want to put so much heat on these POS socialists terrorizing the children of our deployed troops that they will wish they were deployed too......
If anyone can get this to Hannity or O'Reilley it needs to be done.

Yeah if one kid had said something against gay predators, he would have been all over that kid, his parents and the LE's in that school.

"Maine is a very liberal state and the teachers union is a key player in maintaining Democrat control here. There are indications that this might be a coordinated effort by the teachers union as complaints have come in from as much as 300 miles apart. This is outrageous and should be elevated to national news!" Maybe this would be a good one for Bill O'Reilly. Anyone know how to send the story to him?

This will not die until it is resolving properly and so far the demonicRat in charge of the schools in Maine has not resolved it.
