This is what Ebert said in his latest review (on Gods and Generals):
"Here is a Civil War movie that Trent Lott might enjoy .... it waits 70 minutes before introducing the first of its two speaking roles for African Americans"

Actually Roger Ebert has written 2 other movies for Russ Meyer (using a pseudonym) both of them also rated X (and more explicit than Beyond the Valley of the Dolls). The titles are
Up! and
Beneath The Valley Of The Ultravixens (I heard that Roger's wife is "Junkyard Sal" from ...Ultravixens and that she was an escort when Russ introduced her to Roger).

There is no shortage of Lincolnista revisionist historians here @ FR either, as was seen on threads related to putting up the unwanted Lincoln Statue in Richmond, VA a few weeks ago. Time for a few of them to step up and defend Mr. Ebert.

Roger has been off the deep end at least since the early 1990s. His books from the 1990s keep dragging in his politics and he is just as unkind there to conservatives.
It is his confidence in his politics that make him offend half of the public with such snide comments. If he is wrong about his politics though, he may be just as wrong about whether a movie is worth seeing.

Ebert overcompensates for lack of talent with an overabundance of hate.

I've actually lost all respect for Roger Ebert over the last few years. Reading some of his negative reviews, it's clear that for some movies he's not even paying attention to what's going on.

Senator "Sheets" Byrd should have received special attention with such comments since he plays a Confederate General in the movie. Ebert's a fool.
I've also read Ebert's unfilmed script for the Russ Meyer/Sex Pistols' movie Who Killed Bambi? and all involved are lucky that was never completed. It was a genuine turkey full of empty "revolutionary" political statements.

More suspicious because it is a newbie posting a new thread. DUh doesn't even permit newbies to start threads. Of course we give them the opportunity to troll over here and then ban them when they pull their stunts.

As I understand it, they are married and she was/is a news anchor. But Russ Meyer used to hook up Roger Ebert with a number of women and Russ states that when he introduced Roger to this woman, she was an escort. She starred in one movie for Russ (I don't know if she made any others) and has suppressed her history.
They were married well over a decade after the movie/affair.

A good way to find out who is assigned to which number, is to enter the following URL and change the number following the "=":
http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/profile?u=
For instance, http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/profile?u=1 displays Jim Robinson's name.

Cant stand Roger Ebert. Im guessing that Ebert doesnt realize what Gore/Lieberman wanted to do to Hollywood. Anyways this is what really angers me. It is okay for Robert KKK Byrd to be a member of the KKK but its not okay for Trent Lott to say something stupid. Another example of how the press thinks Words are Worse than Actions. Who knows what Trent Lott really ment. He was just trying to be nice. Im glad there is a new Republican Majority leader becuase Lott never really did anything. Where does that fat pig Ebert get off saying something like that. He also made some smark a$$ comments about Texas and the death penalty (which i am for) He hates Republicans just like every liberal except Zeller from Georgia (spelling?).
