She's as wrong as rain but I would defend her right to do it.She has a right to here opinion I agree but I will no longer remain silent in the face of these America haters.
I will however offer to buy any one of them a first class one way ticket to the third world country of their choice for some continuing education.

She's as wrong as rain but I would defend her right to do it. And I will defend the right of the crowd to boo, hiss, turn their backs on her and even pull her scholarship.
The First Amendment states her right to free speech, it does not state her right to be supported without criticism.

I hear ya, but I wouldn't buy her a ticket to anywhere. I want these misquided bozos around when they grow up and have to admit they were wrong . . . . even if it's just to themselves.

This young woman is just another typical deluded fool "educated" by our wonderful leftist-oriented colleges and universites. Part of this is true, of course. The university faculty and administration who spread this treason are the former pinko, hippy, leftist, draft-dodging, 60s dopers who burned the flag during Vietnam and who are now running our universities. They'll have their own reckoning, and soon enough.
But this girl has reached an age when she should be doing some critical thinking. She buys this pablum, hook line and sinker, when she should be doing some independent investigations of her own. No doubt she learned her "history" in front of the television at the feet of the likes of Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather.
This girl is over eighteen. She's responsible for her own actions.

That is true. Freedom works both ways. She has the right to be stupid and we have the right to tell her she's stupid . . . loudly.

FSE, this is what I was trying to say (at 44) in that FReep mail.

he's a gutless wonder.

We have it great here compared to anywhere on this earth. I wish this uninformed girl could live in the middle east for about 6 months. What a dupe.

One of her favorite quotes is quite telling. What a clueless person.

I'd gladly chip in for that ticket! The college Pres should tell Toni it would be even more courageous if she moved to the middle east and wore a birka (might be hard to play basketball in a birka). Of course, he would have to go with her, since she could only go outside if accompanied by a male.

Smith is protesting "that the government's priorities are...... on expanding its own power." Perhaps she's a bit too young to know that the Dems are the KINGS of FedGuv expansion.

"Manhattanville President Richard Berman said he told Smith "what she's doing is courageous and difficult."
>>Yes, it takes a lot of courage to get on the "I hate America" bandwagon. So few college students do it today.

Yeah, I don't know why this is even news. She has the right to turn her back to the flag and make a spectacle of herself (nothing like making each game about yourself instead of the team), and I have the right to boo her for it. Ain't America great?
Why is AP even taking notice? Gee, you think they want to give her views a platform or something?

I didn't know left-wing morons played basketball. You may be too young to remember Bill Walton of UCLA.

""For some time now, the inequalities that are embedded into the American system have bothered me. As they are becoming progressively worse and it is clear that the government's priorities are not on bettering the quality of life for all of its people, but rather on expanding its own power, I cannot, in good conscience, salute the flag,'' Smith said in a statement released Thursday."Stupid, silly little bi*ch.
