A LEFT WING "RUSH" NETWORK?

A LEFT WING "RUSH" NETWORK? 2/18/03 MARK A SITY

The Democrat/Socialists have been obsessed recently with finding a left-wing "Rush" to counter the Conservative slant on AM radio. And yes, I will agree with them that talk radio does have a Conservative slant, a huge one. However, the rest of the "news" media has just as large of a left wing slant, and has more power as a result of inertia. AM news/talk is a relatively new development for our side. The left is upset that they don't have control over it (just as they are upset that they don't have dominance over Fox News).

Rush is right when he says, "…let them talk." However; he does not realize just how right he is. He sounded afraid yesterday to tell them the "secret" to success on talk radio; he is wrong not to do so. I want this proposed liberal radio network to take off, I want it to have a huge listening audience! This would be a victory to end all victories for the left; in winning all, they would loose all.

Let's use my mother as an example. Although I love her dearly, and I love the fact that she taught all of her children to have open minds and to think for ourselves; she fails to do so herself. If you listen to her talk about social issues you would think she is Conservative; yet since she was brainwashed by the teacher's union (retired 3rd grade teacher) she just won't listen to any Conservative or Republican ideas; they are wrong because the people who propose them are just evil. Republicans are just out for the rich, and to hell with the "little people". Would she listen to Rush? Hell no! To her, Rush is the "Great Satan". Yet, when she complains about social issues; she sounds like Rush…. We cannot, however point this out to her; she will block us out. She refuses to listen to talk radio other than NPR and gets all upset when we talk politics in front of her.

However; were there to be a network on the radio dedicated to the left; she'd probably listen to it. This would be a huge win for our side. Sure, there would be plenty of "Bush Bashing", and plenty of lies. But, the brainwashed would listen. Those who have been shutting out our arguments would see exactly what the left is all about; and they would be getting it right from the jackass's mouth! Unlike print or TV, talk radio requires the listener to actually think. This is because you cannot show pictures over radio. One can spin, but after a while the spin will become obvious and inexcusable. Liberals don't do well in that media because their "logic" just doesn't hold water.

I think we should all contribute to this new Socialist Radio Network; it would do more for our cause than contributing to the RNC (ball-less wonders). If this takes off, we will win. Liberals-by-habit will tune in, and get turned off. Many will decide that they want to see the other side, and tune in to Rush, or Sean, or someone else on our side. They will soon learn that we represent what they believe.

One thing I do have to bring up here that is slightly off the subject, Rush kept going back to the idea of rich Democrats. I'm sure he understood the concept, but I want to spell it out. Democrats stand for the status-quo and always have. The leaders want to keep the pee-ons in their place at all costs. This keeps them at the top of the heap. This is no different then in the USSR, the elites get the benefits from the work of the pee-ons, and their status is protected. High marginal tax rates help the elites to maintain their status; the elites have something called wealth; high marginal tax rates prevent the middle class from attaining wealth. This keeps us out of their clubs, and our children out of their schools. This keeps them at the top, and keeps our children from challenging their children in the future. This is why the DNC so loathes the idea of school choice. This is why they loathe the idea of tax cuts for those who pay taxes.

We can only say so much, and most of what we say will not be given any weight. This is why we really need "the Moscow Talk Radio Network". When the sheep hear what their shepherds really think, many will revolt! Most have no idea that they are intended for the slaughter!

You ought to check out Sunday's Doonsbury. It's the first funny one in years. The NPR dude gets a call from a high level dem, asking him if he'd consider doing a talk show. He says, "I've been doing one for 18 years".

Talk radio demands a constant stream of ideas. It has nothing else to offer.

The emotional, intellectually-bankrupt, indefensible screeds of liberals are not really "ideas."

This is why liberal talk-radio must be propped up like the dead and will fail in very short order (again, as with Cuomo and that Texan guy who was about as interesting as a pile of dirt).

Left wing talk radio can never be nearly as effective as conservative talk radio for one simple reason. The left is to diverse. While they celebrate their diversity and count on it for electing their politicians... anyone in television and radio programing understands a simple fact that getting a diverse audience to tune into your radio station everyday is next to impossible.

that Texan guy who was about as interesting as a pile of dirt...

Oh you mean Jim Hightower? I once tuned him in while driving on the NY Thruway, and he was so boring I nearly fell asleep. Seriously, I'd welcome a liberal EIB. Call it LIB (Lies in Broadcasting :) Amusing debates, good chance to win some converts.

You forgot Tom Hanks and his wife.
Love their movies (for the most part), hate their politics!

I wouldn't be all THAT confident that the leftists can't find some sort of talk radio formula. As Senator Kerrey said about bill clinton they are very good liars. They do it very well on NPR, and they might be able to figure out some way of doing it to a wider audience.

I can't stand watching any of the national TV news shows for as long as one minute, but plenty of people seem to tune in to them and get their brains washed. And it isn't only because it's done with pictures. The words are the chief poison.

I was most interested in what he said about his mother. I know plenty of people like that: decent, sensible, conservative, and yet they think NPR is great and Rush is the Devil Incarnate. Which only goes to show that people aren't terribly logical. They have a powerful herd instinct; they don't want to be caught fraternizing with the enemy.

Has Hanks come out and said something about THIS "war?" I hadn't heard anything. (Yes, I like his movies, too.)

Left wing talk radio won't work. They only thing they all agree on is that they hate republicans. You can only say "i hate republicans" so many times. When they begin talking about their issues in depth they become polarized. Homosexuality, greenpeace, women's rights, racial reparations, minimum wage, quotas, nfl coaches, illegal immigraton, unlimited immigration, and on and on. They'd have to say every two minutes of every day (Remember.. We all hate George W) to keep any number of listeners.

This talk about liberal radio is just an end run on CFR. Its just a fig leaf to buy political access for next election if the CFR bill isn't declared unconstitutional. Further, the contributors will be able to take a loss on their investment when it goes belly up.

The investors won't have a profit motive, just a political one.

No, I haven't heard him say anything definite.
Thought you were just listing the usual left-leaning suspects and didn't see his name there.
Maybe he thinks differently this time! (One can hope!)

Yes, it is a political motive; let's encorage it! Lets help them to get their message out. Their message will hurt them much more than we can ever hope to do!
