Dunno about snow.

We have our windows open in the whole house although it is a bit warm.

Reluctant to turn on A/C though.

Trying to be energy conscious.

In fact, got electic bill yesterday.

Last year 66 KWH/Day - this year 57 KWH/Day.

Must be the Global warming.

Yes it does look like it could prove to be a biggie.

Originally, forecast was calling for this to start here sometime this afternoon. But when I saw it snowing in DC last night I knew it wouldn't be so.

There was already 2 inches on the ground by 6am; it was over 4 inches by 8am.

It's drifting pretty good so it is hard to judge how much right now - but it looks like at least 7 already.

OOPS - forgot - I'm in Dover, DE - NE of DC and SW of Philly.

Sitting here at my bay window looking at my neighbors across the street shoveling.

We still have a solid 24 hours more of snow to come and it's coming down in blizzard proportions...but they're still shoveling. As fast as they shovel, it fills back up.

Some people must just have an uncontrollable urge to shovel snow. Personally, I'm gonna wait and give it hell tomorrow.

old thread

Thanks for the thread. Snow is moving into a blocking arctic high (pressure 30.5 inches) so if it does make it up to Boston it will take a while. Got about 11 inches so far today (75 miles w of DC). Temperature bottomed out and is slowly rising now (15), and there's a bit of sleet mixed in.

I'm in Downingtown, PA -- near West Chester and Philly. It started around 6 AM here, and we've got about 6 inches on the ground (as of 11:30 AM).

It's snowing to beat the BAND out there, and we're expecting 24 - 28 inches, according to WPVI-Ch. 6 (abc).

It's supposed to keep up all night amd all day tomorrow. Whee!

I think I'm gonna throw the munchkin into her snowsuit and go sledding later.

Eight inches is the official figure for this weekend here in Sidney, Ohio, with another inch forecast to come down. Just a few miles to the south of us, in Butler County and Greene County (Ohio), road travel has been prohibited for all but emergency vehicles. We're at the northern edge of the storm; it's much worse to the south.

To: SamAdams76; All
Just got back from the grocery store and gas station....I was at the store by 9am and it was already starting to get busy...by the time I left the store there were people riding around searching for a parking spot.

The gas station was just as bad (here in NJ we don't pump our own gas - ha)
The poor h.s. kids working the morning shift were overwhelmed at all the cars.

I'm ready-I love the snow...just pray we don't lose power.

I heard it's started snowing in so jersey.....

Down here in central SC, we've dodged a bullet. It's 37 and raining pretty hard. However, go two hours north of here to Greenville/Spartanburg and Charlotte, and they're calling for 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice accumulation, and that's ALL they need in Charlotte. They've already gotten slammed hard once this year by a huge ice storm.

Where my mom lives in central VA, 2-4" snow PLUS 1/2 to 1 inch of ice. And where I went to college in Harrisonburg, VA, over in the Shenandoah Valley, 1 to 2 feet by tomorrow with 3 feet in the mountains. I predict there will be no beer on the shelves in Harrisonburg tonight! :)

In general, all up and down the east coast, it's a good day to stay inside in front of a warm computer and surf FR!

I'm in northern NJ--(moved from Manhattan last August). We are in northern Morris County in the Kittatinny Mountains (well, they USED to be really high--a coupla billion years ago they were as high as the Alps--much more modest now).

At any rate, we expect between 1.5 and 2 feet. Went to Home Depot this AM and picked up some professional grade de-icing salt (the calcium kind) and a 50 pound bag of sand. I mix them together in equal parts for my driveway (it is steep uphill to the road and a j-curve to boot!).

We don't have a snowblower--why would we with 3 healthy daughters?
