Just got off the phone with Firebrand. The NYPD is jerking us around as usual. We are allowed to go through only on 40th street and will have to converge at the corner of 41st street and 1st avenue.I am updating the hotline 917-387-8865 of any changes.
I will try to post with my pocket pc from the location as soon as I get there. Getting in my car and will try to drive into Manhattan.
GREAT job today, Patriots! This rally seemed to be quite a challenge to orchestrate right from the beginning. You all pulled it off beautifully and have - once again - done us proud.
Thank you for the wonderful pics, NYC GOP Chick... fantastic as always, and I love your witty captions! LOL
abner, I have a *feeling* that you had something to do with some of those signs! :-)
Exit148: An incredibly valiant effort on your part! You are one of the most heroic and active FReepers out there. Kudos to you!
I am really sorry we could not join you all today. Perhaps for the next one. Again... BRAVO to one and all!
nutmeg & zelig
They are as incompetent as they are intolerant. Both eggs missed and the police got a good look at which window it came from on the second toss.
Don't feel that way, it's called fear and it's there to protect you. Some of the left are very prone to violence when confronted by an opposing opinion. They may have attacked you or you might have gotten hurt as they either stole or destroyed your sign.
We saw quite a few of they that were agitated at our presence and I'm sure if there wasn't police present, they'd have gotten physical. High self-esteem and low self-control you know.
Heard that too in the restaurant. Thought, we got to go find out who were those people and trade info.
QUALITY over quantity every time. THANKS FOR SUPPORTING AMERICA IN ITS TIME OF CRISIS.
Thanks everyone for braving the cold (and the eggs) to come out today!

IM001078 to IM001082; Group picture at our original location hidden from sight @ 41st and 1st. The cops hid us way out of sight so nobody would know we were even in existence. IM001083 to IM001095; Under the leadership of our fearless Firebrand we went to the corner of 42nd street and 2nd avenue where we had an audience. It didn't last long, after 40 minutes of yelling at the unwashed the "higher ups" decided it was time for us to be put in the closet again and they made us go back to our original location hidden from view. IM001096 to IM001097; Back at our original location we mull our next move. IM001098: Sauropod with his custom made sign. IM001099 toIM001101; Curtis Sliwa gives the troops a 15 minute pep talk and speech. I have to talk to Curtis and convince him that if he ever wants to take a paycut, he should run for office. IM001102 to IM001104; Dutchy and Curtis pose for the camera. IM001105; Yours truly, Cacique and Curtis. IM001106 to IM001107; Curtis and RaceBannon. IM001108 to IM001113; We retire at McFadden's and have some drink and food after we decide there is little more we can do under the circumstances. If anyone wants to have the original 1 meg files to make 8x10 prints please freepmail me. I will write on a separate thread certain lessons learned from our interlude today. For one thing, we need to find out who those 1,000 pro Bush portesters at Columbus circle were and whether we can contact them and coordinate our activities. If we can do that on a nationwide basis even better. I hope all Freepers out there do some research and post your results. Anything anyone can find out about the rally at Columbus Circle will be welcomed. The left thrives in being united under umbrella organizations and bringing together as many disparate left organizations to achieve an end. We need to learn to do the same. I will post a separate thread on my observations. |

Smaller Group of New Yorkers Hold Counter, Pro-War Rally
James Donahower

As tens of thousands of people flooded the streets of New York City Saturday to protest a possible war with Iraq, a much smaller group held a demonstration in support of the war. James Donahower was there.
Demonstators are chanting, "We gave peace a chance, We got 9-11", 9-11 meaning September 11, and they say their aim is to offer an alternative opinion to that of the many anti-war protesters marching nearby.
Richard Sawicki stood behind a wall of placards bearing the phrases, "good Americans support the commander-in-chief", "support U.S. troops abroad", and "this is Saddam's war." He says the anti-war demonstrators are missing the point.
"We have a powder keg in the Middle East that's going to blow up in our faces if we do not lead the international community in dealing with it," said Mr. Sawicki. "I'm here to support the President and the administration."
Mr. Sawicki was among more than 50 people on hand in support of a war to remove Saddam Hussein. A common theme that emerged in the group was anger at the lack of unanimous support for a war within the U.N. Security Council. One man held a placard saying, "France is intellectually ignorant". Another member declared the French violently anti-American, and announced she was boycotting French products.
But Paul Diperna, a nearby demonstrator, said international dissent within and without the United Nations Security Council is no cause for concern. "That doesn't concern me at all. I think the French and the Germans are pretty much irrelevant," he said. "They're not important. They don't do anything in the world now. If it wasn't for the French veto power in the Security Council, they'd be a nothing power. They'd be like Germany."
The group engaged in frequent shouting matches with members of the anti-war protest as they headed for various rally points.
The demonstration was organized by FreeRepublic.com, a conservative group that supports the removal of Saddam Hussein from power.
