FOX News: Clara Harris murder trial sentence - 20 years in prison, $10,000 fine

I don't know. I've not followed this trial very close so maybe someone who has or is knowledgeable with it maybe can enlighten us....

...I see the likes of oj out there and question why we are sending a woman of good character to do 20 yrs in prison while he and his ilk are free..

It's this stupid jury system we have here. The gall of these people-- actually expecting a murderer to do prison time. The husband got what he deserved, and then some, and now it's her turn to face the consequences.

sure, not saying they don't exist, I just find women who sleep around just for the hell of it rare, and the one's i've known were usually motivated by underlying factors...doesn't make it right, just different motivations..

I'm local to this. 

So was the jury which had 9 women.

And I just don't believe that she intended to kill him.

So what? Husband is dead and gone. While Clara can get out of prison in 10 years if she's a good girl. I really don't care much about intent. I care what the criminal did to the victim. 

You say she is a "conniving, manipulative murderess". If I could find anyone that knows her that would say the same thing or something similiar I would have posted it. 

They saw her good and nice side. David saw her evil side and was killed by this Clara. The one your friends never met. 

But instead I post things that I have heard from people that know the woman and her husband. And some folks have been a bit harsh with me. Which does not bother me. It just makes me wonder why I wasted my time trying to clue in some fellow Freepers only to get dissed by some of you.

No, you don't, but this wasn't murder, just a killin' and they usually don't draw any jail time.

That's my question! When he made a list of her shortcomings, what did she do?

She eagerly set about to make hubby happy by making a self-improvement checklist.

Her self-respect must have been in the toilet. I would have said sayonora. But that's just me.

I've met a few women who had that same self control problem too.

Not to mention a load of excusism - and exemption from consequences - ie. "a woman scorned gets to kill with impunity" crap.

So I see. But as I've stated a couple times on here earlier. I've been in Ms. Harris' shoes. And I can guarentee you that I hurt my cheating ex worse by going to divorce court (in Texas no less) and getting sole custody of our kids and a big chunk of her monthly paycheck for child support.

George Parnham was the defense attorney for the woman who murdered her five children. He lost that trial.

Now he loses the Clara Harris trial.

Is he possibly a "Hangin' Lawyer?"

Aside: Colombia is Clara Harris' native country. Are Latins more passionate and emotional? More prone to angry outbursts? You better believe it! I have personal experience......sitting about 10 feet away from me. :-)

I am a guy. A native Houstonian. I am sympathetic.

I had two friends whose mothers got S&W divorces when I was in high school, but no one ever suggested putting them in jail for it. I mean other than the DA. I never saw anyone convicted and given time for this in Houston. The whole city has filled up with wuussies and other Yankees.

My family has been in Texas for 180 years. Having the right to kill someone who needed killing is one of the main reasons we moved here.

It was more like despair for having her family torn apart. I don't condone what she did, but apparently you don't have much problem with what the husband did - if you think the only result of adultery is "shame and embarrassment"

"Thou shalt not commit adultery" wasn't a suggestion, and it wasn't for a light or frivolous reason that G-d said it.

You sound like a typical liberal. Adultery? No big deal. Somehow I don't think the author of the Ten Commandments agrees.
