I've driven Caddys, MBZs and a Camry. I like the Camry best.

Ford = Fixed or Repaired Daily. Rarely do I hear of a satisfied Ford owner. Its good to see that even their executives admit that they are selling crap.

The Camry is a reliable, well built and well designed car. But it is designed for people with mediocre driving skills.

I've never driven a Camry, but I've had two Toyota Corollas: A 1990 that I bought new, kept until June of 2000 (w/ 197,000 miles) and a 2000, which now has 52,000 miles on it. Great cars! I would have kept the 1990, which was only burning about 1/2 qt of oil every 3000 miles, and still got 32 MPG, but it needed new tires, springs, shocks, struts, brakes, clutch, timing belt, and all new front end parts... Couldn't justify that much to keep a great car on the road.

I bought 3 Fords in a row in an effort to "buy American." The last was a Taurus and it was the worst piece of junk imaginable. The transmission gave out before the car was paid for. I am now on my 3rd Toyota. Ford will never get me back until their car performs like my Toy.

A new sedan, the Ford Five Hundred, will be launched next year, I wonder how much they spent on marketing research to come up with that name?
I suppose it beats "Edsel", but not by much.

It seems this is honest for a change. The solution is to make a better product and possibly fire the Harvard MBAs and bean counters.

I drove a camry for a while, but around 170k it started needing alot of repairs here and there. It did outlast the ford bronco i drove, which went dead at 175k. the camry is still running(but not that fast) now at 185k. my wife has a saturn with 170k on it and it's not needed any real maintenance(darn sensor went out and the car did funny things). so far the saturn has matched the camry.

I don't understand why the Ford and GM can't build a car as good as foreign car makers can. Why can't a Ford or Chevy be as good as a Toyoda. Why can't a Caddy or Lincoln be as good as a BMW???????????????????????

the Ford Five Hundred, That name seems to be missing something....I know the middle name like Ford Fairlane 500 or Ford Galaxie 500.

I love my '98 Ford Contour. Too bad they stopped making them. Gotta love a small car with a V6.

You have one Ford executive saying it is all about product (suggesting, to an optimist, that Ford is going to work on improving the product to make it more like a Camry.)
Then you have another Ford executive blaming poor sales on the Taurus's image and Ford's marketing error in pushing the car too much into rental fleets.
Therefore, I conclude that Ford's high-priced executives don't communicate well with each other and are unlikely to fix the Taurus problem, because they don't agree on what the problem really is.
