The Ross Volunteers may have been 'cleared', but the following two paragraphs from The Battalion don't give me much comfort! Looks like they were cleared after someone had 'explained' things to them and they "got their minds right" as we rural folks say.
'Some of the peace protest organizers will meet with the Ross Volunteer leadership to tell the cadets why their practice drills came across as hostile and intimidating, Van Alstyne said.
"(Ross Volunteers) are a great group of young fellas, and this experience will help to heighten their awareness and sharpen their judgment," he said.'

Ignorant jerks:
Liberals demand "Free speech" - But only if "WE" approve of your speech....
Burning the flag is claimed as "free speech" - but conservatives can't complain about that either....

If anyone is still following this thread, this is an email I sent and the swift reply I received.
Dear Sir:
I advise the "protestors" to get a life. Any actions taken by your TAX
supported school against these men would be a grave injustice. The
protestors felt "menaced"? FELT MENACED????? Do you realize how insipid,
weak, and absolutely stupid that sounds?
I hope the suspension is lifted immediately and this whole issue is
shoved into the garbage where it belongs.
The fact that any action is taken at all against the Ross Volunteers
makes your school a nationwide laughingstock.!

I am forwarding the message below for President Gates.
"Thank you for your email. The Commandant of the Corps of Cadets, Lt.General Van Alstyne (35 years in the Army, Aggie class of '66) on February 11th concluded his investigation of the peace vigil incident and immediately lifted the suspension of operations he had imposed last week on the Ross Volunteers. No individual cadets were ever suspended and no punishments were given.
I have asked the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Commandant to re-examine the policy of suspending a unit of the Corps before the investigation of an allegation of misbehavior, especially if no member of the Corps or any one else would be at risk.

I can just imagine the complaints from the whiny libs.
"Guns scare me!"
"They're so ... so ... MILITARY!"
"I felt like I was at Kent State!"
"They disrupt diversity!"

If we had to depend on that whiny sissified strata of pond scum to defend America, we'd be speaking German and Japanese today.

Yeah, no sh!t. If I had my picture website up and running I'd post a cartoon I got in the email the other day-- "What if, back in '44..." Two military officials sitting in a tank, one says to the other, "I dunno... Let's send in some inspectors first... Give 'em time to find out if the Germans are really as bad as they say."

Taking some time to yank my congress critters chain and write some letters to the presstitutes. Then let A&M know my money and anything associated with their institution will never cross paths unless it's earmarked directly to the Cadets........
PC BS SOB POS bunch of burpers....need to realize their heads are so far up their butts they have to wear a belly shirt just to see where they are going..

My experience with so called anti-war protestors included the numerous insults and even physical assault against me. Since I was on the way homefrom the hospital the protester who spit on me only wound up facing a hospital stay for multiple fracture and a jail term for possesion of drugs not the morgue.
Personally since these protestors were invading the space where the Ross Corps usually does their thing at the time they usually do their thing I would think that the Corps shpuld have been allowed to terminate this protest with extreme prejudice.

Thanks for the great article and the ping...

"Early Cadets" Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets is as old as the University itself. The land grant system of colleges that gave rise to Texas A&M mandated military training as well as academic education. The first six students who arrived for classes when Texas A&M opened in 1876 also became the first Corps of Cadets, and the Corps has been training leaders for service to the state and nation ever since. This training supplements the academic education of each and every cadet, preparing them to lead with confidence in their chosen fields.

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!
Aggie Alumni e-mail is buzzing about this.
