These wrestling guys are dropping like flies. Remember him when he just started wrestling in the A.W.A., Vern Gagne's organization out of Minnesota.

44 is old age for wrestlers. Rock Stars and Wrestlers dont age well. Even the ones that live past 45 look deformed (Sgt. Slaughter, Ivan Putski, Iron Sheik). Flair seems to go against the grain. Even though Hogan is active he looks pickled.

I'm sure the 'roids don't help, either.

I used to love pro wrestling, but it looks like the wrestlers of today are not wrestlers as much as they are shock comedians. They try to shock folks with insane skits instead of wrestling skill.

Ivan Putski works or worked as a security guard at the Annapolis Mall in Maryland. I saw him there a few years ago. Can you imagine the poor punk who gets the "Polish Hammer" for swiping some candy...

Alas, for once he was not perfect. Now he's perfectly dead. I used to really like him when I was a kid.

He started Pro Wrestling at age 14?

When I was younger than 14 we put on wrestling exhibitions for kids in the neighborhood (even younger) than we were. We sold admission for a nickel and such as popcorn and libations for I can't recall the price. I think that made us pro wrestlers, although we didn't make the big bucks some of these folks make these days.

Curt went less than ten years since his running buddy Rick Rude checked out under still-cloudy circumstances like Flyin Bryan Pillman, Louie Spiccoli, and one or more Von Erichs. The juicing aggravated the physical maladies that took Davey Boy Smith. Too many wrestlers (and I've heard too many pro athletes laud their athleticism to criticize them) have flamed out of late.
The multimillionaire megalomaniac busts his toys and kicks them aside as he picks up new ones. Vince isn't technically responsible but...

No, his father, Larry "The Axe" Henning, was the one wrestling for 30+ years. Great wrestler. The "Axe" was were you'd bend someone over and slam your elbow into their back. Hurt likes heck.

As for the steroid comments, I remember watching Curt and "Jumping" Jim Brunzell and Greg Gagne, and they were all skinny (compared to today's behemouths) when they were in the AWA. As soon as they went to the WWF, got huge. I wonder . . .

Wow, I remember him too,
I tried looking for him on this tribute to deceased wrestlers, didn't find him but I was shocked to learn that Davey Boy Smith aka the British Bulldog died last year and Ravishing Rick Rude died in 1999.

His father wrestled under the name Pretty Boy Larry Hennig and was 1/2 of the "world wrestling tag-team champions" - anyone here old enough to know who his wrestling partner in that "championship" was?
