Hurst police officer involved in shooting

By DEBRA DENNIS / The Dallas Morning News

A Hurst tactical police officer shot a 38-year-old suspect as they were attempting to serve a search and arrest warrant Wednesday night, authorities said.

The unidentified Hurst man was shot two to three times at his apartment after trying to grab the officer's MP-5 submachine gun, said Assistant Police Chief Richard Winstanley.

"The suspect had an unknown object in his hand and physically grabbed the officer and the barrel of the officer's gun," he said.

The suspect was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. His injuries are not life threatening, police said.

Another woman who was home at the time was not injured and not arrested. No officers were injured.

The officer who fired the shots was assisting the Metro Narcotics Intelligence Coordination Unit, a multi-jurisdictional drug task force composed of officers from several Tarrant County cities.

The unit was serving a no-knock warrant about 7:19 p.m. at the apartment in the 500 block of Brown Trail. The warrant allows police to enter without first knocking.

The unidentified officer, an eight-year veteran, was the first officer through the door and dressed in tactical attire that identified him as a police officer, authorities said. He has been placed on paid administrative leave pending investigations by Hurst police, officials said.

Heh ... then my 454 should do the job no problem ....
Sounds like you've got some nice toys there.

I wold use a .45 ACP 165 grain hollowpoint bullet and work up the fastest load I could. That would also make a dandy Woodchuck or coyote load.

The longer you live the more toys you gather, counting from the date of your last divorce.

Try a Tokarev firing 7.62mm bottle neck rounds in full metal jacket. I think they go about 90 grains at 1,500 fps.

Best and meanest load I've got is 250 grain copper jacketed round doing 1950-2000 fps .... that's enough to ruin someone's day in a hurry.

I think the comment was totally appropriate. JBT's that violate their oaths the uphold the Constitution deserve any bad stuff they get. Don't wanna get shot? Don't bust in unannounced to somebody's house. That's pretty simple, don't you think?

If you don't like to hear what other people think, then go somewhere else, crybaby.

It was grabbing the MP-5 that was imbecilic."

I don't believe for a minute that this guy grabbed at the cop's MP-5. The more likely scenario seems to me that the gun went off (don't you just hate it when that happens?) and the cop made up the "he grabbed my gun" excuse after he shot the guy.

Too bad the cop didn't get shot instead. That's what you deserve when you barge into someone's house with one of those bullsh*t "No Knock" warrants.
