Ironically, if you look at Israel from space (or any country, for that matter) you can't really identify it at all because there are no borders to be seen.

I am in shock. I've been watching FNC for the past half hour and I really have no words. The one thing I did observe is that the amateur video they showed looked like the shuttle was sideways on re-entry. There was also some white debris in that same frame shot. I saw that too, and it's only on the video that Fox has. At first it looks like the orbiter is stable and flying straight ahead, then there's a pan back and it looks like it's sideways with the left side leading.

Thanks for keeping us posted, as is your usual.
This time last Saturday I was leaving to see Scott Carpenter at his booksigning and this morning I wake up to Mission Controls alert regarding loss of communication with this ship. The best and the worst...
My prayers are with those concerned and all us here.

I don't know anyone here who hopes this was terrorism. Just that if it was terrorism, a BIG if, the people responsible get what's coming to them.

Many astronauts and cosmonauts are former military men/women. Most of the Apollo moonwalkers found the experience to be nearly religious. They were standing on another world and saw Earth as one.

Appropriate EXCEPTION to a very GOOD policy...

Perhaps not terrorism, but IMHO, it would be wise to specifically investigate space based weapon systems by other nations which might have been able to target the shutle in that vicinity.
I'd consider any evidence of energy flux or directed energy emissions in a specific freq over a wide spectrum within line of sight of the trajectory of the shuttle prior to its breakup.
There were conspiracy theories regarding the Challenger explosion attributable to the rockets being lazed upon launch via a space based system as a warning.
Odds at present would be for any hazardous mishap to be the root cause.
Anybody hear any live conversation with the shuttle immediately prior to the loss of signal?

FOXNEWS reporting from Nacadotches(sp)that businesses and people all over the area are seeing debris falling all over the area. "grisly" is how Shep described it, from one person in the area...

Again...Stop trying to start a flame war. I'm quite sure you have enough enemys to have one with. I was an ally of yours up until today....

I'll assume that there were some critical tiles missing from liftoff, causing the spacecraft to burn up on reentry.

No wonder the Muslims are celebrating:

If this accident hadn't happened it would have passed over my house as I was working on the roof. Only by accident diud I come in to check FR when I saw what happened.

Thanks for the ping. Not the kind of news I like to wake up to. My prayers for the families.
This thread is precious. It offers candid comments and raw emotions as a tragedy unfolds. It should have it's place in history.
