I am in shock. I've been watching FNC for the past half hour and I really have no words. The one thing I did observe is that the amateur video they showed looked like the shuttle was sideways on re-entry. There was also some white debris in that same frame shot. I saw that too, and it's only on the video that Fox has. At first it looks like the orbiter is stable and flying straight ahead, then there's a pan back and it looks like it's sideways with the left side leading.

Yep. It will be interesting to see how much time lapsed between loss of communication, to re-entry, to explosion...
If the shuttle was spinning out of control, then odds are the crew was unable to correct it (meaning they could have already died due to internal failures such as pressure, oxygen, etc.)
