Actually Sharpton will do BETTER than this poll indicates. This poll just includes those CURRENTLY registered as Demmycrats. It doesn't include those now Republican or Independent who plan to re-register as Demmycrat just to vote for Sharpton in the primary election. I am one of them who plan to re-register (temporarily) JUST to vote for Rev. Al.

Edwards must stink if he's this close to the bottom of the barrel in an adjoining state.

"Sharpton for President!!"
Let's all hope NOT. I think you meant to say "Sharpton for Democratic Candidate for President",yes? ;^)

Based on the conversations I've had with several white swing voting Dems here in FL, Al Sharpton is going to wind up: (1) helping get out the vote; and (2) recruiting swing voting Dem voters to vote GOP.

Outstanding post. As a NYer and a newspaper veteran, I am still absolutely flabbergasted that the Dems would let this complete crook and utter fraud anywhere NEAR their dais. ARE THEY INSANE???!!!! AL EFFIN' SHARPTON???!! In their wildest dreams GOP strategists couldn't come up with this one.

Meanwhile, Hillary sits back, saves her money, lets the others attack each other, doesn't get bloodied, and is waiting in the wings for the convention.

The only two that really scare me are Edwards and Dean.

"I am still absolutely flabbergasted that the Dems would let this complete crook and utter fraud anywhere NEAR their dais."
The problem for them is that they really can't do anything about it. Sharpton has a solid, sizable constituency in their party. He might even have stronger appeal with blacks than Jesse Jackson these days. If the Dem leadership tries to sabotage him, he will NOT go down quietly. He will tell his followers to stay home on election day, and if he tells them to, they will. If that happens, the GOP victories of 2002 will look like just a warmup. The Dems will be hurt if Sharpton goes deep in the primaries, but they have no chance at all if they alienate the black vote.

"Meanwhile, Hillary...is waiting in the wings for the convention."
I don't think so. Hillary is sneaky, and you can't rule anything out with the Clintons, but I don't think that sort of play would work. When was the last time that either party's convention decided the candidate? The days of smoke filled rooms and convention fights are over. The modern convention is just a made-for-TV pep rally. You can't win a candidacy now without going the the media circus of the primaries. If hillary wants to run this time around, she's going to enter the fray very, very soon. I think she's saving up all that money and biding her time until 08. You won't see her ugly face in next year's primaries unless Dubya's approval ratings are in the 30s.

...They defended Al and did their best to make Repbulicans look like racists. They legitimized his race baiting self. Now they are going to have to deal with his stature, a false premise that they have been passing off for decades every time it was convenient...Oh yeah. They honed this character alright. Just like they layed the horror duo (bill and hitlery, as if explanation were necessary) upon our nation and now have to live under a monstrous shadow of degradation and corruption as this shoddy duo has usurped the power and has become their new boss. Ouch!
And Al Sharpton, lol, ...there he is, either trying to extort money from the DNC ( by promising NOT to run-yet to come), like jesse jackson does about every election, or there he is truly running and making in your face comments like, paraphrased, ' well hell, if you are gonna go into my past, then you had better be prepared to go into hitlery's past and kennedy's (teddy's) past, too!'
Apparently Al Sharpton has been around the block a time or two and is not afraid of the klinton krime machine.
This could get hot. And it could NOT happen to a better criminal enterprise than the DNC!
