It burns me, too, but better abandonment in a public place than killing the little boy. The man had to know that the place would be crawling with parents--moms--who would, with any luck, find him and care for him.

What he did was very wrong, but it could have been so much worse.

So many would be willng....especially those moms who never had a son. It's a very special bond and I can't believe this little guy's mother isn't freaking out.

I hear your argument, but this isn't a baby that won't remember the trauma of actually being abandoned. This kid is 3, this will affect him for the rest of his life. It is every child's worst nightmare and fear, to be abandoned by his family. To me it is just as bad as someone burning a kid routinely with a cigarette.

Its kinda like saying a bank robber should get leniency if he politely says "thank you" during his heists. He still robbed a bank. And this sorry bastard(and wife/girlfriend/crack ho mom, if she is alive, not a given, or knows about this) still has inflincted lifetime scars on an innocent 3 year old.

I certainly won't argue with you on that, but at least he's alive which is more than a lot of unwanted children are. As rotten as what happened to him is, he at least has a chance at a good life and at being reunited with his mother, assuming that she wants him back. That is possible since she was not the one who directly abandoned him. He wouldn't have that chance if he were dead.

He's a cute little guy. Strange that someone would abandon a child like that. All too often these days though, there are stories of children being beaten, starved, etc.

I'm holding out hope that he was kidnapped but unharmed by the guy who left him there. If that's the case, the mother will be frantic and soon reunited.
