Well....I guess that you mean that worthy organizations which are fighting in the trenches to defend the free speech rights of conservative professors which are under
constant assault such as nas.org and thefire.org need to be shut down. Can't allow them to "speak out" against big brother!

I'm not exactly sure what put a bur under your saddle, but I did not advocate anyone be silenced.  I advocated the position that University Funding through salaries, assets or direct fees not be used to pursue an agenda that is not germane to the job of educating our nations youth.  This anti-war effort has nothing to do with education.  Therefore I do not support the left using public funds to advance their personal agenda.

Nowhere did I state that professor's voices be silenced with it comes to job rights, or their personal views in relation to the execution of their jobs.  Clearly that is job related and very much something affecting job performance and university business.

BTW, next time you condemn any conservative public employee or professor who takes any political position, please cc it as a personal message to me. Thanks.

I did not condemn any liberal (or conservative) public employee or professor for taking a political position.  So as of yet, there cant' be a next time, since I have done it once.  I condemned the possible use of public funds to advance a personal/group agenda.  Do you understand the difference?

Ah, well, why should I cc a guy who can't seem to understand the difference between calling for the silencing of someone completely and simply asking that public funding not be used for a personal non-job-related endeavor.

Not many. My point is that you will find only a HANDFUL of conservatives in ANY Humanities-based department in any university. Yes, there were a couple of people who supported Kosovo (I didn't, because unlike Iraq, it did not threaten our national interests); and I sure didn't support Haiti (same reasons). Moreover, in each case there were sufficient forces from other nations/organizations to deal with that. NATO did not need us for Kosovo. But in the case of Iraq, where there is a direct and growing monstrous threat, not to act would be criminal.

Those who can......make history.

Those who can't......teach history.

Those who don't learn from it......are history.

Reading is fundamental. www.nas.org is a *faculty* not student organization. www.thefire.org is primarily concerned with the rights of faculty not students and is led by faculty such as Alan Kors, a history professor at University of Pennsylvania.
