Democrats demand proof from Bush
Daschle, Pelosi sharply assail president on eve of State of the Union speech
WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 On the eve of President Bushs State of the Union address, congressional Democratic leaders challenged the president to show proof to the world that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction.
Jan. 26 Presidential aides indicate that Bushs State of the Union address will deal with a growing federal deficit and will require cuts to some programs. NBCs Joe Johns reports.
IN WHAT WAS billed as a pre-buttal to Bushs address to Congress and the nation Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the partys leader in the House, sharply criticized Bush for taking what they said was a hurry-up approach on Iraq and charged that he was creating a credibility gap by saying one thing and doing another across a range of issues.
If we have proof of nuclear and biological weapons, why dont we show that proof to the world as President Kennedy did 40 years ago when he sent Adlai Stevenson to the United Nations to show the world U.S. photographs of offensive missiles in Cuba, Daschle said at the National Press Club news conference.
At a time when we have only just begun to fight the war on terror, the American people deserve to hear why we should put hundreds of thousands of American troops at risk, spend perhaps hundreds of billions of dollars, risk our alliances, and inflame our adversaries to attack Iraq, said Daschle, D-S.D.
CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS CITED
Daschles reference to Cuba related to the Cuban missile crisis of four decades ago. At the time, the Kennedy administration unveiled reconnaissance photographs at the United Nations to prove its claim that the Soviet Union had dispatched missiles to an island 90 miles off the United States mainland.
The state of our union today is anxious, he said. The triple threat of war, terrorism and recession are combining to make Americans unsure about their future and unclear about the course our nation is taking.
Pelosis criticism of Bush was directed largely at domestic issues, including the presidents proposed elimination of the tax on corporate dividends and his record on the environment.

Also the world has changed in 40 years, Ratfaces. Today's sophisticated intelligence potentially reveals too much about sources and methods. Enemies such as Saddam have better means of deception and denial and, given enough information about what we know, better ability to take action.
This is not about photos taken by a first generation spy plane or whatever.

I don't believe that it is a matter that they believe Saddam. I believe that they want to erode the American people's freedoms for this Global elite new world order. The right's freedom loving, patriotism and attachment to capitalism is what is in the way of this new world order. The terrorists are the means the "communists" use to de-stablize America? Why do you think the left wants our guns all the time? Why do you think the left controls the major media? Why do you think they want "dumb" Americans and never improve our system of education? Why do you think that they want multiculturalism? New world order under communism - socialism - or whatever name you wanna give it...it's still communism. And the left wants it.

Like we are going to tell them (Iraq) we know where their
assets are located. Stupid Stupid Tommy.
You fail Military tactics 101 with a grade of F.
Ironically the same grade you have been recieving in
Political tactics 101.
The onus of cooperation and disclosure is incidentally
not on the Bush White house you lying windbags.

I wish Bushie would do a Godfather style hit on all these enemies of the people. Not actually shooting them, but taking out all of this opposition at one time... putting some behind bars, discrediting others, filing charges on these dimocrap pigs in the Senate. Removing the US from the UN, knocking out Saddam, Kim, and anybody else stupid enough to mess with us in one fell swoop. Maybe a little Martial Law... if you aren't guilty of anything you don't have anything to worry about, right? </fantasy}

Tom Sullivan, subbing for Rush today, made a great point.
"Even if we have photos of WMD's in Iraq, the moment we show them to the world, Iraq will move them."
Sooooo ... if we send the UN to look at those places, what will we find ...?? N O T H I N G!!
Could this be the democrats plan - for us to be embarassed at not finding what we have shown the world we believe to be there ...??? I think the dems would love it!!

Let me quote again from President Bush's speech at the Republician National Convention:
We face something familiar; they are facing something new.
The democrats can't understand that the rules of political strategy and discourse have changed. They are caught in a time warp, and can't deal with things as they are. Look at how they bring up the Cuban Missile Crisis of over 40 years ago. They dare not bring up recent democrat dealings with American national security; who are they going to cite...Clinton and Carter?
So, they go far into the past, to the last democrat president that doesn't have a stigma attached to him.
They have no idea about how to comport themselves with someone who tells the truth, loves the country, and is doing his best. None.
And therefore, I must conclude that they are evil.

His timing is perfect as usual! Maybe he had better clean out his ears and listen ... Timing was planned, of course; and he can't listen, he's too busy yapping!
To: Mo1
I just have one question for The Rats .. what would be enough proof .. Daschle said "if we have proof of nuclear or biological weapons, why don't we show that proof to the world?" He wouldn't believe unless/until his own family is on the receiving end of the weapons....and even then he'd still demand proof that the weapons were from Iraq and not the U.S. Govt's fault that Iraq has 'em. The ol' blame America first, ya know.
To: alnick
I believe that I read or saw a report that said that Hussein is believed to have enough bio/chem material to kill every human being on earth two or three times over. Do you remember where/when you read this?
To: Miss Marple
"And therefore, I must conclude that they are evil."
The Democrat party that is not shamed to have defenders like Carville and Begala is most assuredly evil.
To: Bigg Red
I know I'm shocked! I know you're being sarcastic, but isn't this disgusting? Why can't they, for once, be AGAINST evil instead of working side by side with it? It's really appalling. And South Dakota keeps relecting this slime ball.

Daschle said "if we have proof of nuclear or biological weapons, why don't we show that proof to the world?" I think it was yesterday that the midget said the President needs to present his case to the world because he hasn't explained why .. he then went on to say that he thought the President would release what information he had later in the month
So basically Tommy knows the President has the proof but thinks the President should release it now
Watch the Dems, they talk out of both sides of there mouth to cover their butts

They have no idea about how to comport themselves with someone who tells the truth, loves the country, and is doing his best. None. And therefore, I must conclude that they are evil. And evil hates truth and the light (i.e., Rush, Hannity, FRee Republic, and other conservatives) which exposes their evil deeds.

>>After tomorrow night, they will be totally irrelevant.<<
One day the Dims will awake to realize W has outsmarted them all along the way.
My guess is this will happen somewhere around 2008.
