Let us all fervently hope that more left-wing crackpots line up for the democrat nomination. I personally favor an Al Sharpton/Carol Mosely-Braun ticket as the truest expression of the democrat political philosophy, i.e. the philosophy of liars, cheats, thieves and con artists

This is the best news that I've read all day. In addition to the obvious reasons why her candidacy would be a failure, I think she'll remind people of the Clinton administration. She was a part of the Clinton (lack of) class of '92 and will be associated with him. The farther she goes in the primaries, the more people will remember him.

On a slightly related front, does Peter Fitzgerald have a chance of holding his seat? I've not heard much about him, but I think he has a very poor record on the Second Amendment. Many people who voted for him in the rural parts of Illinois were likely hoping for a senator who would stand for their rights. If he hasn't been that senator, he may not receive much real support from them. They may not necessarily vote for his opponent or a third-party candidate, but they will volunteer and contribute to candidates who make a better stand. If so, we could lose that seat.

The only down-side is that Carol and Sharpton will make the Kerry look moderate and Alfred E. Lieberman look conservative.

This is a lame attempt by the rats to blunt sharpton. It will backfire because it will give sharpton someone to challenge. It also misses the point of sharpton's candidacy from our point of view. It does not matter if mostly-fraud takes some of sharpton's votes, she'll never take them all. The damage he will do to the rats is in his just being in their primary, not in his winning. That's impossible. He will NEVER quit. He will find the money and the dumb baskets in the rat media will give him all the free coverage he will need. Long after opie edwards howard dim and all the other also rans are gone, it will be sharpton and lurch and mealy mouth joe. Who do you think will be the more colorful and the guy who gets the coverage?
