Police say they caught him trying to meet young girls over the internet...but former U.N. Weapons inspector Scott Ritter never spent a day in jail.Legal experts say that's unusual...most others accused of similar crimes meet a much different fate.
Jeffrey Johnson serving 7 years in prison...nabbed by police in 1997 for trying to hook up with a 12-year old girl he met on the Internet.
Robert Rodriguez facing up to 15 years behind bars...for a similar crime involving a 14 year old.
Former U.N. Weapons inspector Scott Ritter caught in 2001 for allegedly trying to meet a 16 year old girl he chatted with online.
But Ritter's a free man...his case adjourned in contemplation of dismissal.... {"The judge, the ADAA, my lawyer, reached an ACOD and my file was sealed. I am obligated legally and ethically not to discuss matters pertaining to that."}
{"I've never heard of an ACOD in a situation like this."} Former federal prosecutor Donald kinchella says the outcome of Ritter's case is not the norm...especially since Ritter was also nabbed 3 months before the arrest and got off with just a warning.
{"People who do this just don't do it once. There's something there. No police officer or anyone else wants to see someone like this out on the streets where they can have contact with children."}
Ritter was allegedly supposed to meet the teenage girl at this Menands Burger King...but was met by cops instead...a common tactic in internet sex stings...
{"If someone communicated with someone they think is a kid and had conversations about sex and then they show up where they set the meeting up, I can't imagine what the innocent explanation would be."}
With Ritter's case-- and his lips -- sealed...we may never hear his explanation.
The sentences for crimes like these can differ greatly...depending on the specifics and whether the case is being prosecuted by the state or the federal government.
The feds generally dole out harsher penalties. They were never involved in Scott Ritter's case.
Probably never. Ritter's starting to look like a candidate for "Arcancide" (as in general meaning of the word for "offing" yourself; not necessarily related to Klintons, but then again who knows), as he will be sooo depressed over his "outing" as a pervert. The ex-ADA gets it in an unfortunate car crash or whatever. I really wouldn't be surprised.
Sui
You forget, they caught him TWICE.
The first time he was given a warning. The second time has so far sounded like a clean bust. Someone did post that they heard the first time the proposition had been too vague, resulting in the warning. I have not seen that confirmed, but it is possible. Still it raises questions on why the slap on the wrist when they catch him again, given his clear and reckless propensity for this activity.
You also don't address why the DA would have been kept totally out of the loop from the beginning of bust #2 where Ritter is given the deal and the case gets sealed, resulting in the ADA being shown the door.
You are confusing the despicable perversion of pedophilia as defined in psychiatric books with the statutory pedophilia as defined by the local laws on age of consent. Only some states have it higher than 16.
BTW, when I see liberals condemning discrimination based on "sexual orientation", I wonder which exactly "orientations" they have in mind? Is there any authoritative list, is it fixed or is it growing?
Let's see where she lands. It's only been a week.

I was referring to the above, not at which age statutarily designates a pedophile victim. Other people caught do time while this pervert gets off scot free. Tell me why he gets off while others caught in the same type of sting are treated differently.
I wonder what was the age of consent in the state Ritter got entrapped? If it was 16 then he could not be charged with statutory pedophilia?
They would have to have a just reason to fire the DA in charge or they'd be exposing themselves to a wrongful firing legal suit. It sounds to me like a chargeable offense in their state. That aside, the pervert was previously involved in another incident with a little girl whom I believe was 14 years old "...and got off with just a warning."
I'm not a defense attorney so I have no reason to further parse this miscarriage of justice based on the facts as presented. Adios.
