Scotty was very anti-Iraq when he came back here. The blackmail was applied rather shortly after a very revealing and detailed anti-Iraq speech in 1998. Probably apprised by Iraqis of his film history by Iraqis shortly after that. Given the nature of child predators, I suspect he was served rather well and often in Iraq. ProIraq ever since.

Why can't Ritter face federal charges?
To: Nick Danger
You know much about life in and around Albany? Trust me, the crook option is totally believable.

Personally, I don't think the cops blew it. It is common knowledge in my town (if you have the money) how to handle a legitimate arrest. You hire _______ as your attorney, get the case before Judge _______, and depending on the severity of the crime, pay $25,000 to $75,000 - that would be cash. The charges are either dismissed or the punishment is extremely mild.

I wonder how long it will be before we know "the rest of the story." Probably never. Ritter's starting to look like a candidate for "Arcancide" (as in general meaning of the word for "offing" yourself; not necessarily related to Klintons, but then again who knows), as he will be sooo depressed over his "outing" as a pervert. The ex-ADA gets it in an unfortunate car crash or whatever. I really wouldn't be surprised.

Hell I'm still trying to figure out how the Unibomber got a free pass. He should have fried.
The Unibomber had TWO free passes.
1) He was insane.
2) He went to Harvard.

If that Colonie PD program depended on federal funds, the people involved in it would have been most anxious to keep the feds happy. So, if the feds wanted Ritter let off,...
To: rabidone
It is far more likely that the cops blew the case somehow. You forget, they caught him TWICE.
The first time he was given a warning. The second time has so far sounded like a clean bust. Someone did post that they heard the first time the proposition had been too vague, resulting in the warning. I have not seen that confirmed, but it is possible. Still it raises questions on why the slap on the wrist when they catch him again, given his clear and reckless propensity for this activity.
You also don't address why the DA would have been kept totally out of the loop from the beginning of bust #2 where Ritter is given the deal and the case gets sealed, resulting in the ADA being shown the door.
To: Nick Danger
I'll bet this was one of those "national security matters" and the Assistant DA got rolled into dropping this by somebody with a big Federal badge. They didn't want Scott Ritter in jail, and they didn't want him taken off the world stage. They were learning something by watching him.
BINGO! This is one of the only conjectures I've read that makes sense.

I am outraged that this creep gets to walk free when he should be serving time like other perps of this most despicable and perverted crime. Scott Ritter-pedophile. His name should always be hyphenated with the word "pedophile". You are confusing the despicable perversion of pedophilia as defined in psychiatric books with the statutory pedophilia as defined by the local laws on age of consent. Only some states have it higher than 16.
BTW, when I see liberals condemning discrimination based on "sexual orientation", I wonder which exactly "orientations" they have in mind? Is there any authoritative list, is it fixed or is it growing?

And our guys don't go to bat for her and either convince her boss to keep her on or at least set her up in a nice cushy federal job? Let's see where she lands. It's only been a week.

Jeffrey Johnson serving 7 years in prison...nabbed by police in 1997 for trying to hook up with a 12-year old girl he met on the Internet. Robert Rodriguez facing up to 15 years behind bars...for a similar crime involving a 14 year old. Former U.N. Weapons inspector Scott Ritter caught in 2001 for allegedly trying to meet a 16 year old girl he chatted with online.
But Ritter's a free man...his case adjourned in contemplation of dismissal....
I was referring to the above, not at which age statutarily designates a pedophile victim. Other people caught do time while this pervert gets off scot free. Tell me why he gets off while others caught in the same type of sting are treated differently.

Tell me why he gets off while others caught in the same type of sting are treated differently. I wonder what was the age of consent in the state Ritter got entrapped? If it was 16 then he could not be charged with statutory pedophilia?

"{"I've never heard of an ACOD in a situation like this."} Former federal prosecutor Donald kinchella says the outcome of Ritter's case is not the norm...especially since Ritter was also nabbed 3 months before the arrest and got off with just a warning." They would have to have a just reason to fire the DA in charge or they'd be exposing themselves to a wrongful firing legal suit. It sounds to me like a chargeable offense in their state. That aside, the pervert was previously involved in another incident with a little girl whom I believe was 14 years old "...and got off with just a warning."
I'm not a defense attorney so I have no reason to further parse this miscarriage of justice based on the facts as presented. Adios.

If my brother were blowing people to bits for some whacked out environmental madness, I'd drop a dime without hesitation. If I were doing it, I'd expect him to do the same.
