How conservatives and liberals might react when faced with a threat
Email | Email

My thanks to a listener who sent me this great illustration on how conservatives and liberals might react differently when faced with a threat of deadly violence:

Question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner and is running at you while screaming obscenities. In your hand is a Glock .40 and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.

What do you do?

Liberal Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that is inspiring him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me or would he just be content to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
This is all so confusing!
I need to debate this with some friends for a few days to try to come to a conclusion.

Conservative Answer: BANG!
Texan's Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click... (sounds of clip being ejected and fresh clip installed)
Wife: "Sweetheart, he looks like he's still moving, what do you kids think?"
Son: "Mom's right Dad, I saw it too..."
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Daughter: "Nice grouping Daddy!

well its 14 degrees here on the CT shore. I spent the morning thawing a frozen water pipe so it didn't burst. They talk of global warming yet in South Asia they are counting up the dead from hypothermia. In short where is this global warming?

I want it now.

Unfortunately the liberal would probably, in this pinch, defend himself out of pure instinct.

Of course, being a liberal, he'd cock the job up...

He'd horribly wound the assailant while killing one of his kids with a stray round...

Then he'd blame the Founding Fathers for establishing a 'society of fear and violence'...

Then he'd sue Glock, the store he bought the Glock at, The ammunition manufacturer, the store he bought the ammunition at, the NRA and Charlton Heston...

Then he'd realize that life is short, and not meant to be lived as a lie and come out of the closet, admitting his gay-ness and leave his wife and remaining children...

Then he'd begin cruising the city park's restroom, looking for young boys to bugger...

Then he'd get tagged by the Vice Squad and sent up the river....

Then he'd be victimized by powerful criminal-homos while doing his time...

Then he'd be released...

Penniless and filthy, mad as a hatter and choking with rage he would charge from the alley with the knife he'd stolen from Target, screaming obscenities as he closed the distance between him and the family walking down the sidewalk...

And the great circle of life would close.

Most Texans wouldn't use a mouse gun like a Glock .40

It had a different heading than the one you chose and it was credited to Neal Boortz, from his web site on what one of his listeners sent him.

Your email obviously quoted him, thus the line:
"My thanks to a listener who sent me this great illustration on how conservatives and liberals might react differently when faced with a threat of deadly violence: "

Did whoever emailed it to you have listeners or an audience?

Congress: We are introducing a bill to form an oversight committee to determine whether we should establish an investigative committee to look into the matter.

This Texan would:

Throw away that cute little Glock .40 and pull out the 1911A1 and then empty two clips into the perp.
