America Under Siege
Frontpagemagazine.com ^ | 1/20/03 | David Horowitz

Posted on 01/20/2003 2:02:27 PM PST by Weimdog

America's enemies within turned out in force on Saturday in Washington DC and San Francisco under the auspicies of the Communist Workers World Party operating under its front organization, A.N.S.W.E.R. Once again the demonstrators pretended to be peace activists, who found violence abhorrent and a willing media played along with the charade. Neither the New York Times nor the Los Angeles Times nor any media I saw identified the organizers as Communists who have a long record of support for world terror and its leaders including the Ayatollah Khomeini, Kim Jong Il, Slobodan Milosevic and Saddam Hussein.

As reported by the unfiltered cameras of C-Span, the pretense, in fact, was pretty thin. One of the featured speakers  was a spokesman for the narco-terrorists in Colombia who opened his rant (all the speeches fell into this category) with, "We have to stop America's war against the people of Iraq, and the people of Palestine, Colombia and the world." America is supporting the government of Colombia against a brutal communist guerrilla force that has been waging civil war there for half a century. Come to think of it, America's enemies in Palestine are the terrorist organizations Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the al-Aksa Martyrs terrorist brigade. And in Iraq, there is a dictator who has slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his own people and has attempted to swallow the country of Kuwait. The spokesman for the Colombian narco-terrorists was quite candid (and why not, since he knows that the American media will present him as a "peace activist" anyway). "As revolutionaries," he said to the crowd, "as progressives, we have to resist American imperialism."

Then came Imam Mussa from the mosque Masjid al-Islam,. Like most of the cast assembled by A.N.S.W.E.R. the Imam had also been a speaker at the Millions For Reparations March last August -- which was more about denouncing America as a racist, imperalist monster than making a case for compensation for any specific injustices (See my report, "Reparations Buffoons On The Washington Mall."). Here is a sample of the rhetoric at that March from Malik Zulu Shabazz (one of the few who was not at the "peace" event): "The President wants to talk about a terrorist named bin Laden. I don't want to talk about bin Laden. I want to talk about a terrorist called George Washington. I want to talk about a terrorist called Rudy Guiliani. The real terrorists have always been the United Snakes of America."

When he got going, the Imam Mussa dotted the i's and crossed any t's that the narco-terrorist spokesman had missed, telling the crowd that the regime change they wanted was in Washington not Bagdhad, and that they really didn't want a regime change at all. "We 're calling for a System change," he said. Revolution. "We won't get any justice as long as that criminal Congress is up there. We're calling for revolution. It's revolution time, brothers and sisters. We have to get rid of greedy murderers and imperialists like George Bush in the White House." The Imam then led the crowd -- are you ready for this -- in the chant the suicide bombers use as they blow up innocent men, women and children  -- Allahu Ahkbar! Allahu Ahkbar! Allahu Akhbar!"

Democratic NY City Councilman and former Black Black Panther Charles Baron was also a speaker at the Millions for Reparations March, where he announced he needed to assault a white person for his "mental health." On this occasion he kept his racism in check, but not his rhetoric. "If you're looking for the Axis of Evil," he raved, "then look inside the belly of this beast." He went on to attack America's "monopoly capitalists" (a technical term which veterans of the left will recognize as the mark of Communist and Maoist sectarians) who of course were the puppeteers pulling the President's strings. Damu Smith, head of "Black Voices for Peace," returned to Baron's theme and made it specific. “Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld," he said, "that’s the Axis of Evil.”

Larry Holmes "co-founder" of the sponsoring organization who also hosted the Millions for Reparations March, then led the crowd in chants to free two convicted murderers, Mumia Abu Jamal and Jamin al Alamin (H. Rap Brown). This was a set-piece also during the Millions for Reparations March.

It would be reassuring if one could report that a single speaker or face in the televised crowd dissented from the stew of anti-American, anti-white, anti-Jew hatred or the violent incitements, but not one did. The crowd relished the show and was in total sympathy with the message.

Another striking fact about this march in support of global terrorism was the presence of prominent Democrat officials on the platform. In San Francisco, the most powerful Democrat legislator in the state John Burton screamed, "the President is full of shit" and that the President was "fucking with us," while encouraging the general sentiment that America rather than Iraq was the outlaw state. In Washington, Democratic hopeful Al Sharpton attended and DC ex-congresswoman Cynthia McKinney read a speech with the following claim: "In no other country on the planet do so many people have so little as they do in this country." This from a person who notoriously commandeered a taxpayer-funded limousine to take her from her townhouse one block to her congressional offices every morning.

More disturbing by far was the presence of two of the most powerful Democrats in Congress, the potential head of the Ways and Means Committee, Charles Rangel and the potential head of the Judiciary Committee John Conyers, who is of course the author of the Reparations Bill and the icon of the Communist organizers of both marches. Rangel's appearance was especially troubling because he has been a nightly face on TV news shows presenting himself as a patriot and a veteran (he served fifty years ago in Korea) who wanted a military draft so that all America would be invovled in the nation's defense. His critics thought he had other agendas, like using conscription to sabotage the war effort. Apparently his critics were correct.

Americans who care about their country and its future should think about the following. This anti-American pro-terrorist movement is now larger than the anti-Vietnam pro-Communist "peace" movement was until the very end of the Sixties. Yet there is no draft. Before the draft the anti-Vietnam movement was very very small. Its demonstrations were numbered in the hundreds of participants, not even the thousands. The first big manifestation of the anti-American left was the Stop the Draft March in Oakland in 1965, which was four years after America's involvement in Vietnam got serious.

The second thing Americans should think about is the fact that this anti-American support movement for America's enemies has deep roots in the Democratic Party. I am a firm believer in the two-party system. I find it extremely worrying, therefore, that one party can no longer be trusted with the nation's security. This problem will not be easily fixed. But it won't be fixed at all unless attention is drawn to it, and we cannot do that unless we stop the charade of calling this a "peace" movement and recognize instead that it is anti-American movement to divide this country in the face of its enemies and give aid and comfort to those who would destroy us. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ David Horowitz is the author of numerous books including an autobiography, Radical Son, which has been described as “the first great autobiography of his generation,” and which chronicles his odyssey from radical activism to the current positions he holds. The Art of Political War was described by White House political strategist Karl Rove as “the perfect guide to winning on the political battlefield.” Horowitz’s latest book, Uncivil Wars, was published in January this year, and chronicles his crusade against intolerance and racial McCarthyism on college campuses last spring. This is outragious.....I can't even imagine how our troops are feeling when they hear this anti American garbage! It's too bad that those who support the President and our troops can't gather together to show the world how we feel.

200 renegades go on rampage in S.F.

Tom Abate, Tyche Hendricks, Chronicle Staff Writers Sunday, January 19, 2003

A splinter group of more than 200 black-clad protesters broke off from Saturday's peaceful rally and went on a brief romp through the Financial District, smashing windows and news racks before melting away before the eyes of frustrated police.

A police spokesman said officers made two arrests.

The angry demonstration began about 4:40 p.m. when a group of demonstrators beating drums and waving black-and-red flags blocked traffic at Fifth and Mission streets.

The mostly young activists, some with handkerchiefs covering their mouths and noses, turned onto Market Street, followed by police on bicycles.

The protest escalated to vandalism as the group turned up Sansome Street, spray-painting anti-war messages on the Citicorp Building.

Demonstrators used news racks and iron bars to smash a glass door at the Immigration and Naturalization Service building. As police rushed forward to protect the entry, the march turned south on Battery, smashing a window in a Starbucks coffee shop.

Dozens of police officers followed, some on horseback and motorcycles. The tactical squad, riding in vans, poured out in an effort to protect the plate- glass windows of stores and banks.

At Market Street the group took over the westbound traffic lane before heading into the Powell Street BART station, where they jumped turnstiles and left police smacking their palms with batons.

"I've been to a couple of rallies in San Francisco, but this is the most intense stuff I've seen," said Andrew Thompson, 27, a graduate student from Arcata in Humboldt County.

...encouraging the general sentiment that America rather than Iraq was the outlaw state...

Well we did once have a president that gassed and burned to death innocent citizens just like Saddam. What was his name, Bill something?

My question is, how can anyone not see what's coming from these trash?

I really pissed when I think that these assholes are living in this country.

You know, you can say it a million times but if they are so unhappy with this "regime", and so disgusted here, try living elsewhere.

They protest, go home, and kick back and have a beer and watch TV and they are complete hypocrites.

Millions for Reparations March...it's really all about money, isn't it? Free money.

The Imam then led the crowd -- are you ready for this -- in the chant the suicide bombers use as they blow up innocent men, women and children -- Allahu Ahkbar! Allahu Ahkbar! Allahu Akhbar!"

On a local radio show that evening, I heard a tape of that chant from the rally.

I knew what it meant "Allah(God) is great"

The Imam went to great lengths to make sure the infidel responders knew how to pronounce "Allahu Ahkbar". So when he would rant and stop they would respond; "Allahu Ahkbar!"

What pissed me off was the talk show hosts on the radio program said they did not know what it meant and glossed over it as if it was just a crowd cheering. - Tom

From a recent AIM report --

ON OCTOBER 26 AN “ANTI-WAR” DEMONSTRATION ORGANIZED BY AN OUTFIT CALLED “International ANSWER” was held in Washington. It was carried live on C-SPAN through an interminable series of boring speeches by various strains of radicals. A driving force behind it was Brian Becker, who reporters identified as “co-director of the International Action Center, one of the groups that make up International ANSWER.” International ANSWER is a front of the International Action Center, which seems to function as a front of the communist Workers World Party. Larry Holmes, one of the organizers and a speaker at the demonstration, has served on the secretariat of the WWP. Becker is a leading member of the WWP and was a key organizer of the pro-Palestinian demonstration in Washington on April 20. He is also a supporter of the Stalinist North Korean Communist dictatorship.

THEN, AS NOW, THE MEDIA IGNORED HIS COMMUNIST CONNECTIONS, BUT RIVAL SOCIAL- ist groups believe the Workers World Party works too closely with the national Democratic Party. Helen Halyard of the World Socialist Web Site editorial board said that Workers World “acts to prop up the Democrats” and has a “political orientation to the Democratic Party.” She noted that when Jesse Jackson ran for the Democratic Party presidential nomination in 1988, he was backed by Sam Marcy, founder of the Workers World Party. Jackson and Al Sharpton both delivered what the Washington Times called “rousing speeches” at the so-called anti-war rally on October 26. We say so-called because it is clear that Becker, Holmes and their followers are not really against war. They are only against wars that target enemies of America. But that wasn’t made clear to the public either before or after this protest took place. Perhaps journalists realize that the truth would ultimately embarrass their friends in the Democratic Party.

I was considering this the other day, the peace movement of today and all peace protests, marches etc have something very much in common with communism.

In all the history of the peace movement, going back over a hundred years, they never, NEVER have been successful at preventing a war, yet still they continue to follow the same
failure laden behaviour.

In this they are so much like Socialist/communists who continue to espouse their political beliefs in spite of the
history of their complete and utter failure.
The Democrat party to this day continues to support socialism with an , "I know it didn't work before, but
we can make it work here mentality."

I just finished listening to Horowitz on Hannity's radio show. Hannity had him on to debate Gail Murphy -- one of the "Pink Ladies" that have been protesting daily in front of the White House.

They couldn't have rounded up a better example of a Marx "useful idiot" than that airhead is.

Hannity asked her "If you are really just *war protestors* [instead of the Commie front group we know that you are], why weren't you out there protesting Clinton when he bombed Iraq in '98?"

Looooong silence. She couldn't answer.

(In fact he caught her on tape whispering that question to someone there with her in hopes that she could get fed the answer from him/her).

Before that segment started, Hannity took a call from a FReeper, and then had Curtis Sliwa on. They talked about the Patriots Rally and Hannity mentioned the "Freepers". I have been taping all of it.

Cynthia McKinney read a speech with the following claim: "In no other country on the planet do so many people have so little as they do in this country." This from a person who notoriously commandeered a taxpayer-funded limousine to take her from her townhouse one block to her congressional offices every morning.

As much as I admire Horowitz and agree with him, I believe he got this detail wrong. Wasn't it "Queen" Sheila Jackson Lee who demanded a chauffeured limo? And isn't she still doing it? At least, we got rid of Jihad Cindy.

The country needs to rise up against this threat. Let the true citizens of the USA join together to fight and quell those who want to destroy our homeland. These people have been given a mouthpiece and are trampling on the right to the freedom of speech. The most tyrannical regimes on this planet were built and founded upon strong anti-capitalist and anti-democratic rhetoric. What these people are saying is no different. It's a clear and present danger, friends, and we need to fight it.

"... really pissed when I think that these assholes are living in this country."

And lest we forget where these Clymers live--- HERE is where most of anti-American DemocRATS are

They were / are also the supporters of the DemocRATS who tried to prevent the military vote from being counted in Florida after the 2000 election. Lest we forget:

RELEASED: DEMOCRAT MEMO ON HOW TO DISQUALIFY MILITARY VOTES

**World Exclusive**

The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained -- and is now releasing worldwide -- a memo circulated to Democrats throughout Florida detailing how to disqualify overseas military ballots!

It's been talked about. It's been flashed on TV. But now only the DRUDGE REPORT can bring you the full text.

Mark Herron, a Tallahassee lawyer helping shepherd Democratic presidential election lawsuits through the local courts, sent the five-page letter to Democratic attorneys across Florida giving them tips on how to lodge protests against the ballots which heavily favored Republican George W. Bush.

Bush comfortably won Florida's overseas absentee vote by 1,380 votes to Vice-President Al Gore's 750 but, after vigorous challenges by Gore canvassers, 1,527 of the postal ballots, many of them from soldiers and sailors on active service, were rejected using Herron's bluprint.

Gen Norman Schwarzkopf led Republican condemnation of a five-page guide which advised Democratic tellers how to raise objections to the postal votes.

He said: "It is a very sad day in our country when the men and women of the armed forces are serving abroad and facing danger of a daily basis . . . and are denied the right to vote for the president of the United States who will be their commander in chief."

The 5-page memo as obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT:

Date: November 15, 2000
To: FDP Lawyer
From: Mark Herron
Subject: Overseas Absentee Ballot Review and Protest

State and Federal law provides for the counting of "absentee qualified electors overseas" ballots for 10 days after the day of the election or until November 17, 2000. Sections 101.62(7)(a), Florida Statutes defines as "absentee qualified elector overseas" to mean members of the Armed Forces while in the service, members of the merchant marine of the United States and other citizens of the United States, who are permanent residents of the states and are temporarily residing outside of the territories of the United States and the Districts of Columbia. These "absent qualified electors overseas" must also be qualified and registered as provided by law.

You are being asked to review these overseas absentee ballots to make a determination whether acceptance by the supervisor of elections and/or the county canvassing board is legal under Florida law. A challenge to these ballots must be made prior to the time that the ballot is removed from the mailing envelope. The specific statutory requirement for processing the canvass of an absentee ballot including of overseas absentee ballot, are set forth in Section 101.62(2) (c)2. Florida Statutes:

If any elector or candidate present believes that an absentee ballot is illegal due to a defect apparent on the voter's certificate, he or she may at anytime before the ballot is removed from the envelope, file with the canvassing board a protest against the canvcass of the ballot specifying the precinct, the ballot, and the reason he or she believes the ballot to be illegal. A cahllenge based upon a defect in the voterÕs certificate may not be accepted after the ballot has been removed from the mailing envelope.

The form of the voter's certificates on the absentee ballot is set forth in section 101.64(1), Florida Statutes. By statutory provisions, only overseas absentee ballots mailed with an APO, PPO, or foreign postmark shall be considered a ballot. See Section 101.62(7)(c). Florida Statutes.

In reviewing these ballots you should focus on the following:

1. Request for overseas ballots: Determine that the voter affirmatively requested an overseas ballot, and that the signature on the request for an overseas ballot matches the signature of the elector on the registration books to determine that the elector who requested the overseas ballot is the elector registered. See Section 101.62(4)(a), Florida Statutes.

2. The voter's signature: The ballot envelope must be signed by the voter. The signature of the elector as the voter's certificate should be compared with the signature of the elector of the signature on the registration books to determine that the elector who voted by ballot is the elector registered. See Section 101.68(c)x, Florida Statutes.

3. The ballot is properly witnessed: The absentee ballot envelope must be witnessed by a notary or an attesting witness over the age of eighteen years. You may note that these requirements vary from the statutory language from the Section 101.68(2)(c)1, Florida Statutes. Certain statutory requirements in that section were not proclaimed by the Justice Department pursuant to Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, Sec. DE 98-13.

4. The ballot is postmarked: With respect to absentee ballots mailed by absolute qualified electors overseas only those ballots mailed with an APO, PPO, or foreign postmark shall be considered valid. See Section101.62(7)(c), Florida Statutes. This statutory provision varies from rule 15-2.013(7), Florida Administrative Code, which provides overseas absentee ballots may be accepted if "postmarked or signed and dated no later than the date of the federal election."

5. The elector has not already voted (duplicate ballot). In some instances, an absent qualified elector overseas may have received two absentee ballots and previously submitted another ballot. No elector is entitled to vote twice. (Please insert appropriate Fl. xxx.)

To assist your review, we have attached the following:

1. A review Federal Postal regulations relating to FPO's and PPO's.

2. A protest form to be completed with respect to each absentee ballot challenged.

3. Overseas Ballot Summary of Definitions.

Revised - Overseas Ballot Summary of Definitions There are 3 different types of overseas ballots that are valid for return at the counties provided they are postmarked on or before November 7th.

1. Federal Write-In ballot

Must be an overseas voter and must be eligible to vote and be registered under State law.

Must have affirmatively requested an absentee ballot in writing and completely filled out request (including signature)

Must comply with State laws applying to regular absentee ballots (such as registration requirements, notification requirements, etc.)

Ballot contains only Federal races, and is considered to be a "backup" system if the regular state absentee ballot fails to arrive.

The intent of the voter in casting the ballot should govern. In other words, minor variations in spelling candidate or party names should be disregarded in ballot counting so long as the intention of the voter can be ascertained.

Must be postmarked as an APO, FPO, or MPO in a foreign country or at a foreign post office.

2. Florida Advance Ballot

Sent out in advance of a regular General Election ballot with state and Federal candidates listed.

Must be an overseas voter and must be eligible to vote and be registered under State law.

Must comply with State laws applying to regular absentee ballots (such as registration requirements, notarization requirements, etc.)

Must have affirmatively requested an absentee ballot in writing and completely filled out request (including signature)

Sent prior to the second (or October) primary elections to all permanent overseas registered voters.

Must comply with all State laws regarding signatures, witness requirements, etc.

Must be postmarked at the APO, FPO or MPO in a foreign country or at a foreign post office.

3. Regular Overseas Ballot

Sent after the second (or October) primary elections to all permanent overseas registered voters and voters requesting an overseas ballot from the county.

Must be an overseas voter and must be eligible to vote and be registered under State law.

Must comply with State laws applying to regular absentee ballots (such as registration requirements, notarization requirements, etc.)

Must have affirmatively requested an absentee ballot in writing and completely filled out request (including signature)

Full ballot with all candidates listed.

Likely would take precedence over any advance or federal ballot also returned.

Must comply with all State laws regarding signatures, witness requirements, etc.

Ballot is designed by the county.

Must be postmarked at an APO, FPO, or MPO in a foreign country or at a foreign post office.

Below are the definitions for points of origin and postmark that are valid for military overseas ballots:

1. APO (Army Post Office) -- A branch of the designated USPS civilian post office, which falls under the jurisdiction of the postmaster of either New York City or San Francisco, that serves either Army or Airforce personnel.

2. FPO (Fleet Post Office) -- A branch of the designated USPS civilian post office, which falls under the jurisdiction of the postmaster of either New York City or San Francisco, that serves Coast Guard, Navy, or Marine Corps personnel.

3. MPO (Military Post Office) -- A branch of a U.S. civil post office, operated by the Army, Navy, Airforce, or Marine Corps to serve military personnel overseas or aboard ships.

4. Military Post Office Cancellation -- A postmark that contains the post office name, state, ZIP Cope, and month, day, and year that the mail xxx was cancelled.

Protest of Overseas Absentee Ballot

As provided in Section 101.68(2)(c)(2), Florida Statutes. I, as an elector in __________ County, Florida, hereby protest against the canvass of the overseas absentee ballot described below:

As much as I admire Horowitz and agree with him

Horowitz, the reformed Marxist, I presume. While he's slid his diatribe meter far to the right, caveats certainly apply. He is far from a consistent font of conservative wisdom. To wit, this piece published today, suggesting that Dr. King was railroaded into telling lies. Really? Stokely Carmichael made him say it?

Disingenuous as some of the Vietnam-era anti-war activism was, Horowitz' implication that the U.S. anti-war movement was responsible for lunatic Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia is hyperbolic in the extreme. Ironic too, the more sober assessment of the Southeast Asian conflict given by ex-SOD McNamara.

In contrast to techno-pundit George Gilder's glowing praise for "Radical Son", here again is a more sober assessment. "C" is about right, IMHO. Moral of the story is, be cautious when choosing conservative flag-bearers. You never know when Horowitz will have another change of heart.
