Why would there be no such thread for me if I were killed tomorrow? I tell you what, if you turn up dead tomorrow, we'll find your killer for you, after we give you a really nice funeral and lots of people come to see you and say what a wonderful person you were in life. And we'll dedicate a thread to you, complete with wild speculation about your killer. OK?

Hey wimp, that is a very decent thing for you to do for Silas!

I'm not following this like some of you, but as someone who has been in the company of a lot of pregnant women(expectant lists), I can tell you it's not unusual for the man to not be in on the appts and know the doctor. this is the WOMAN'S dr, not the couple's. I mean, a husband can't even find out the sex of HIS baby or be at the ultrasound unless his wife says it's ok. I just wanted to say it's not unusual for a man not to even know who a wife's dr is. My hubby would have been clueless as to my dr's exact name. He'd only went once with me to listen to the heartbeat and then to a completely different office for the 20 week ultrasound(which my doctor was not at). He probably learned her name when I actually delivered and we were around her for several hours.
Anyway, just putting my .02 that not calling the doc could be nothing. If a man does not attend a lot of appts, than it probably wouldn't be at the forefront of his mind to call her OB. Out of sight, out of mind.
If he called family and friends before calling police, one would have to think that he did not call the hospital because of that. He probably would have assumed that if she went into labor she would have called family. I think when you don't know who else to call and it's unusual for your pregnant wife to not be home on a holiday(did they have a meeting? were they supposed to meet back at the house at 5pm and after waiting an hour and half hubby became worried?)
I'm just throwing a few things around I haven't seen on some of these threads. I'm not willing to indict this guy yet from what I've read on any of these threads(and I haven't read all of them). I hope they find the body, if she is dead, and soon so it can shed some light on how and who murdered her.

"Mark Furman made a comment (I think it was tonight) that why did he call the police went he got home " I also saw the Mark Furman comments on Tv last night, and I thought he made a very valid point....
the husband gets home at 4:30 pm from "fishing" ...his wife is not around, he calls a few relatives and then CALLS the POLICE at 6pm!
1 1/2 hrs later...which in reality is odd because why PANIC that's she's missing, foul play etc.... Mark Fuhrman also made the point that even people with "kids" they can't find don't call the police that quickly - they still think the kid is at a friends house etc....
He (the husband gone fishing christmas eve) doesn't sound like the 'touchy feely' worry about the pregnant wife type anyway
Besides - she could've been 'shopping' or at the grocery store it was christmas eve there's always the last minute thing, out and about doing a few errands.
I asked my husband if he would've called the police after 1 1/2 hrs of not knowing where I was and he laughed because I easily could be doing stuff-not have my cell phone on etc....at the mall - etc
the 'jump to conclusion' to call police so quickly is odd...
too bad the dog can't talk, I bet he took the dog for a 'ride w/leash on' let it out somewhere (thinking it would be found wandering and NOT back at the house probably)
I also doubt the 'object' is his wife, it's almost too easy...

Well, I am very sensitive to these matters. :-)

It doesn't seem odd to me at all. Police might be hoping to ratchet up pressure on the killer...his friends and/or relatives may notice an odd change in his behavior after this news.

they hafta figure out some place to dispose of the body! I was on a jury in a murder trial and the guy kept the body in the spare tire well of his hatchback. For a year and a half.

today with dna, and high tech, you wonder why people even bother with murder. chances are, they'll get caught!Absolutely. With paper trails a mile long, video surveillance cameras everywhere, DNA able to be extracted from the most minute and heavily degraded samples, it's a wonder ANYONE thinks he can get away with murder these days.

When a guy sets up the perfect crime it's not fair to ignore the evidence he has manufactured. It is supposed to look like a "stranger abduction".
To: wimpycat
But if it is a body, it could be anybody's. Yeah, since I think Laci is elsewhere, Jimmy Hoffa comes to mind.

Many of the same things were going through my head as I read this thread.
I'll add one other thing. I can't imagine what the family is going through right now. IF it were my daughter potentially in the water, I would NOT appreciate having the police announce the possibility on a Thursday night and then state that they probably won't go back until Saturday.
Why not just quietly tell the family, unless they really are trying to smoke out the killer?
Prayer for the family.

"When a guy sets up the perfect crime it's not fair to ignore the evidence he has manufactured. It is supposed to look like a "stranger abduction"." lol...good point! What was I thinking??! :)
To: OReilly
This makes no sense <<<<<<<< Exactly.
Maybe to the husband it might. He might start getting overconfident. To him it may look like the police have taken the bait, so to speak.
To: Silas
Tell me the truth. I can handle the truth. Obviously, you can't.

In this situation he could have walked out on the marriage rather than spend the rest of his life behind bars. Stupid is as stupid does. A life sentence does not mean "life". According to the Bureau of Justice statistics, the average time actually served in prison for murder anywhere in America, is only 96 months.
Even the Manson family are all up for parole, and they all would have been paroled long ago if not for the publicity of the Manson murders.
To: terilyn
This makes no sense. Why go to the Berkeley Marina, kill your wife and unborn son, dump her body there and then go back and tell the police that you were at the Berkeley Marina?? He probably figured they'd believe his story about her missing and still be looking much closer to home ---trying to find tracks of the dog that would lead them to her.

This is a commonly misunderstood stat, BTW.
"Business associate" can mean your crack dealer or john.
"Friend" can mean member of a rival gang you knew in grade school.

MAYBE, the hubby called his in-laws thinking that his wife went there to vist. Or that if she was still out 'gallivanting' when he got home, that her parents would know where she was.

But who will help you move friends' bodies?
