I know that and I support Frist as much as you of course only after the vote on that Monday! When the fat lady sang, but for Howlin and others to keep trashing him after that is disgusting and does not show others that the Republicans are any worst than the rats as cksharks kinda said!

What would it mean to have the judiciary filled with judges like Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas? Disaster for your civil rights and constitutional liberties, your children's right to privacy, your grandchildrens' access to clean air and water

Heavens to mergatroids. Just think how disasterous it would be to have Constitutionalists interpreting the Constitution! I mean, the Constitution might actually effect the outcome of cases!

his voting record did not translate into a record of conservative LEADERSHIP. I feel for how he was railroaded, but he caused his own downfall.

Thanks for the ping.

Bringing a judicial nominee to the floor requires a majority vote -- in the Judiciary Committee. Once the nominee reaches the floor, then only a majority vote is required to confirm. However, the Filibuster Rule does apply to the debate.

It is not true that the Filibuster Rule (Cloture Rule) means that every bill or nominee requires 60 votes to proceed. The reason is that conducting a filibuster leaks off a majority of the Senate, by definition. Therefore, seldom will 40 Senators commit to a filibuster to the death of an issue or nominee, because they have to work with the majority on other issues, later.

Is there a way to skip every post to or from a single screen name? That could be a nice Freerepublic feature.

And Lord knows there are plenty here who come by that quite naturally....without any help. In fact, I'm beginning to think we have a handful on FR who are just plain imbalanced.

Hey lookahere. Lott was given good advice the day AFTER his "off the cuff" statements. He was advised to apologize immediately, via the FIRST news media available, LIVE. He was on vacation in Florida and disregarded good advice. He eventually troubled himself to PHONE in a 'whatever ya wanna call it' from his vacation zone. It went downhill from there.

Then, it will be stored in a huge and dusty old storeroom for failed leftwing agendas dismantled by President Bush from 2001 to 2009.

Why pay to store these worn-out agendas?

I say we burn them for energy as we eliminate the agendas, one by one. And, Gray Davis gets free electricity to keep Kali humming.

(Don't you love being right about this man over and over and over again???)

Yes, I do and let's hope that Edwards tries to make his mark in the Judiciary Committee. The people will be able to see him and his slimy, legalistic tactics. Man, I cannot stand that guy.

Go get 'em W!! I just saw the speech - it was wonderful and then saw our new Senators on CSPAN 2. It was great. Today was a very good day for our side.

Miss Marple...

I respect your civil and reasoned response...

I will turn your question around. Why do you think conservatives "DID" vote for Bush two years ago???? Certainly none of us voted for Gore.

On foreign affairs, I rate Bush very well. On domestic affairs, I honestly see little difference from the democrat agenda, just at a slower pace. That is just an honest opinion. Keep in mind I am not a republican, in fact with no party affiliation.

He called Hannity I believe. Bill Frist said the same thing Lott and even a democrat said, Lott said it at a birthday party while Bill Frist and the democrat said it on the Senate Floor.

Point is its over, Bill is ML and that is fine with me, but to keep trashing Lott after the fact now is BS. That is what I take offense to.

I am and yes I did. The Republican party hasn't run anybody against Lott in years. Our choice has been him or a democrat. Lovin' my Country, I voted Republican. It is my sincere hope and desire the Ms. Republican party has awakened from it's long, misguided sleep and will appoint another more worthy canidate to represent Ms., than a Senator who declares to the world that we are corrupt, misguided, and lepers. If they don't, I might hafta run myself and we'd all be in trouble. :)

However, he is doing a wonderful job on the war, he just re-nominated the conservative judges that the democrats held up, and he is pressing for sweeping tax cuts.

That is a fact! Bravo!
