I became a republican six years ago because of the absolute hatred and envy of the democrats. The people on this site who constantly refer to this man as pig and all sorts of nasty names make me wonder if I made the right choice. Say all the shit about Lott you want and blame him for all you want but never forget he has the third highest conservative voting record in the Senate.

And he still didn't have the sense to keep his mouth shut and not embarass the entire Republican Party.

There won't be much of a fight over Pickering, just a lot of steaming and jabs at him for show. The President wouldn't have submitted his name again if he didn't have the votes counted and cast in iron already.

People for the American way are the obstructionists here. See http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/ and http://capwiz.com/pfaw/issues/votes/
They own the leftists in the Senate.

Hey, I defended Lott too- up until our Senate caucus decided to go with Frist.
They probably had as many different views about it as there are individual Senators in the caucus.

It was their call to make and they made it and that's all there is to it.

Yes, this is a conservative forum. Do you think Republicans aren't conservative? Most of us are (barring a few northeastern liberal types).

Republicans like me, who are conservatives who have chosen to work within the Republican party, find it very annoying when we are accused of being lemmings or groupies.

President Bush was our best chance of getting any sort of conservative policies passed. He was elected (miraculously) and he has managed to get tax cuts and increased military spending passed, along with the roll-back of many of the Clinton EO's on environmental and UN issues. He is pro-life and has demonstrated it. He has managed to elevate the dignity of the presidency, trash the UN, get a missile defense shield underway, and generally make the democrats run and hide.

Now, this is not a perfect program. I wish we could have gotten voutures in the education bill, I am nervous that the SC won't gut the CFR bill as he hoped, and I wish he would explain his position on immigration and the borders more fully.

However, he is doing a wonderful job on the war, he just re-nominated the conservative judges that the democrats held up, and he is pressing for sweeping tax cuts.

So, how is it that I am a lemming? Why are there posters who feel that if they disagree on one issue, they have been betrayed? Why can you not see that although flawed and not perfect on policy, a good and decent man is in the White House?
