Republicans like me, who are conservatives who have chosen to work within the Republican party, find it very annoying when we are accused of being lemmings or groupies.
President Bush was our best chance of getting any sort of conservative policies passed. He was elected (miraculously) and he has managed to get tax cuts and increased military spending passed, along with the roll-back of many of the Clinton EO's on environmental and UN issues. He is pro-life and has demonstrated it. He has managed to elevate the dignity of the presidency, trash the UN, get a missile defense shield underway, and generally make the democrats run and hide.
Now, this is not a perfect program. I wish we could have gotten voutures in the education bill, I am nervous that the SC won't gut the CFR bill as he hoped, and I wish he would explain his position on immigration and the borders more fully.
However, he is doing a wonderful job on the war, he just re-nominated the conservative judges that the democrats held up, and he is pressing for sweeping tax cuts.
So, how is it that I am a lemming? Why are there posters who feel that if they disagree on one issue, they have been betrayed? Why can you not see that although flawed and not perfect on policy, a good and decent man is in the White House?
I respect your civil and reasoned response...
I will turn your question around. Why do you think conservatives "DID" vote for Bush two years ago???? Certainly none of us voted for Gore.
On foreign affairs, I rate Bush very well. On domestic affairs, I honestly see little difference from the democrat agenda, just at a slower pace. That is just an honest opinion. Keep in mind I am not a republican, in fact with no party affiliation.

Some pretty fair articulation on Dubya thus far...
It is absolutely paramount however that he reverse field regarding his position on (il)legal immigration and enact stringent border enforcement.
