2 Men Face Multiple Charges Two transients face charges of opening fire on a uniformed Albuquerque police officer stopped in his squad car at a South Broadway traffic light. (January 3)

Officer Kevin Kees was not hit in the Wednesday afternoon shooting and helped chase down the suspects before they could get away.

Martin Perez, 25, and Ismael Perea, 27, remained at the Bernalillo County Detention Center on Thursday after failing to post bail...

... The passenger of the car stuck his hand out the window and pointed a small silver handgun at Kees and fired several shots...

..."We can't think of any motive, other than ignorance and sheer stupidity," said Albuquerque Police Dept. spoksman, Jeff Arbogast...

...A 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, 3 shell casings and a live round were discovered in the car when the pair was arrested...

Let's see, if I cross the border illegally into:
Canada, Mexico, Cuba, England, Austrailia, Egypt, China (basically every single country on the planet) I go to jail. I may not survive my sentence/detention. In several countries, odds are I would be killed. And that's assuming I did not do a "Down with (insert country name here)" chants in public, in which case my survival rate declines exponentially.

However, if I do manage to cross the border illegally to the USA, I get free medical care (which US citizens are not entitled to), and can get welfare, education and a place to live for the rest of my life. Plus, I can march on capitals, demanding special consideration, with my foreign flag flying. I can have "Down with the USA" protests anywhere I like. I can even stage terrorism while living as a parasite.
