WASHINGTON - The only Library of Congress branch in the U.S. Capitol - which has helped lawmakers for generations - is shutting down to provide the new House Democratic leader with space for her interns, officials said yesterday.

The abrupt closing of the congressional reading room and branch library has caught lawmakers and other patrons off guard, and even the two librarians who staff the small reading room are still getting used to the news.

What use would the Rats have for a library? When they're not burning books, the Rats are censoring them for anti-PC content. Scum.

"It's really too bad this is closing," said Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), who sits on the Senate's Library Committee.

Well then Chuckie baby do get off your duff and do something. You're on the Library Committee for pete's sake. Find the "officials" and find out if Nancy convinced them to close it.

"They wanted the space for Ms. Pelosi's interns,"

Bubba just squeezed them in under his desk.

No tradition or institution is immune when power hungry RATs are involved.

Correct. There is no room for facts in a Democrat world.

"...What use would the Rats have for a library? When they're not burning books, the Rats are censoring them for anti-PC content. Scum..."

Once the research materials and furniture have been removed there should be plenty of room for filthy mattresses and bean bag chairs...

Within six months the rooms will have obtained a fine patina of marihuana smoke residue, dried body fluids, vomit, pizza scraps and feces smeared fast food napkins.

So just how much space does it require for Pelosi to house the entire PRC Intelligence Corps?

Ah, but you see, the books must be there for censoring and burning.

To sum up the Rat's philosophy, to quote Deacon Mushrat in a Pogo comic strip, "There's nothing so beautiful as a brightly burning book".

In later news, under pressure, they find that they only need the room taken by the HISTORY section of the library and return the sections taken by LBG, multiculturalist, racist, and feminist propaganda to their prior stature.

I suppose the Republicans, in the majority, couldn't just tell Nancy to BIOHA?

If Hastert (or any other Republican) did this, you can bet this story would have legs for 2 or 3 weeks, with the press lamenting yet another precious resource squandered by the GOP.

I don't understand this. We run the House. I would think Hastert would have to sign off on space allocations.

One possibility: once upon a time when the Dems ran things, they commonly took a disproportionate share of everything and told the perpetual minority pubbies to shove it. Under those conditions, when the place was run as a Tip O'Neill et.al. fiefdom, it's possible the Dems simply loaned the LOC this office out of the Speaker's stash of unused Democrat space, and now they're reclaiming it.

The Congressional Reading Room over in the Jefferson Building is much nicer anyhow (unless that's been changed too since my time). I'd much rather go there anyhow, and it's not appreciably farther unless you're coming from the far corner of Rayburn.

They don't need the library extension anyway. They can do their reseach like the rest of us, on the internet, at FreeRepublic.
