RE post #267 - Wrong. You do not have Al in a hottub with the Lieberman character one second, and dressed in a suit the next second. That change is called an edit and that edit was made on tape. Geesh!

Re post #268 - From the Dem mindset: hey independents: your President is coming to restore peace and prosperity.
<br. It is amazing to me that these Dem posters still do not grasp that MANY INDEPENDENTS DID NOT VOTE FOR GORE.

BTW, Timesink, thanks for your posts and comments, and if you are right about the professor skit, then I am wrong! And, yes, I can make mistakes. But the other segments were tapes, and in the beginning, it looked like they were heading into a lot of tape. Then, they went into more live skits.

BTW, after thinking about it, I have concluded what I enjoyed more was watching the actor who played AL Gore on SNL during ELection 2000, rather than watching Al Gore play Al Gore on SNL. The actor captured the Essence of Al, while Al himself is often without a focus, looking for the teleprompter, as is expected since he is not a comic actor. Also, the opening segment of the Tipper kiss was awful. But, that guy who parodies Chris Matthews on HARDBALL is a riot! LOL... :)

Finally, the West Wing skit made me think: Thank goodness AL Gore is not in the White House right now. The whole country would already have been nuked, we'd be dead, and all because he was too busy making fundraising calls from the White House when he wasn't busy entertaining his Hollywood pals there. THe business of the country would have taken a distant #3 spot on his list of things to do. And, love him or hate him, at least GW is very actively engaged in his job.

Well, where to begin??? I'm almost feeling sorry for Al Gore.

The Chris Matthews skit was very funny. Darrell Hammond (who also played Gore during the 2000 election) is the best of the whole show - he is superb in his impersonations.

I was literally cringing through the West Wing skit. What a painful sketch - you just KNEW that was the real Al Gore - a loser who was incapable of removing his butt from behind the president's deck.

The Stuart Smalley sketch was another cringe fest. Loser Al Gore, in denial, unable to deal with the reality of losing the election, and Tipper doing the "intervention" thing. Fake crying, that Al was in a "shame spiral" (LOL) and eating enough to blow up like a hot air balloon. I kept thinking, "Don't these people have ANY dignity?" Apparently not.

I have to agree with Diddle Squat, this is his swan song. No one with any serious presidential aspirations, would have demeaned themselves in such a low class, crass way. Good ole, funny ole Al Gore, is toast - history - FINISHED.

Interesting analysis, baseballmom. I agree with you about Darrell Hammond, as he is incredible. When he impersonates Chris Matthew I just about fall over, laughing so hard. I also thought that whole sketch was very funny in its total lambasting of the Dem Party leadership.... LOL...

But, you and Diddle may be right, in that this may be an exit by Al Gore. Part of me wants to agree, but another part of me -- that voted Dem most of my life and sees what idiotic decisions these Dem leaders constantly make in FL -- forces me to wait and see. Idiotic decisions seem to be the new trademark of the Dem Party.

If Al Gore had already announced he wasn't running for president, I think this whole show would have been much funnier. Not knowing his decision, both the West Wing sketch and Willy Wonka sketch was weird for me too.

But, then again, if Al Gore had decided not to run already, maybe SNL would have asked John Kerry to host. I don't know. Time will tell..

Good ole, funny ole Al Gore, is toast - history - FINISHED.

Also, the lunacy in FL never ends for Dems, who are now so out of power it's a joke. Here we have a state with more registered Dem voters than GOP voters, and no Dem holds any elected office of importance. Maybe the FL Dems have a dog catcher or two in office, but that's about it.

So, if there are any SNL writers reading this thread, here is a suggestion for you for a continuing sketch idea I find very funny, that you can start working on, and use over and over again on the show: The FL DEM PARTY TRYING TO ORGANIZE. Seriously. That's a COMIC PREMISE if there ever was one.

THey just ousted Bob Poe, so you can start with the meeting to choose a new party chair in FL. And, instead of choosing a new party chair, Dem Party leaders are so stupid down here in FL, that party officials in charge of the meeting think when the agenda says: "BUY NEW PARTY CHAIR" it means: to go to the store and buy new seating for the Dem headquarters. Etc.

Actually I meant:

Dem Party leaders are so stupid down here in FL, that party officials in charge of the meeting think when the agenda says: "FIND NEW PARTY CHAIR" it means: to go to various stores to buy new seating for the Dem headquarters. Etc.

Plus, the SNL writers can take the dialogue for the bumbling FL PARTY sketches right off the Dem sites, so the Dem posters can finally feel like they MATTER to their own party.

Here's some funny, true, actual lines I read on Dem sites during the FL gvo race:

"I called up the office of Bill McBride to donate money, but the woman answering the phone told me she didn't know where I should send my donation. She said she thinks they're not taking donations any more. Does that sound right, fellow Dem voters?"

"I called up the McBride camp about six weeks ago, offering to volunteer, but they haven't called me back yet. Do they need any help or is this thing really in the bag?"

"How come Jeb Bush looks so great on tv and our party's candidates don't?"

the bumbling FL PARTY = the bumbling FL DEM PARTY

Here's another idea for a sketch in that series: Dem Party leaders saying: "Hey, let's get some good ole boy FL conservatives to vote for our Dem candidate - now, how can we do that???? I know: BRING DOWN BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON TO CAMPAIGN HERE IN FL!"
